Every time I see a video of “dangerous sharks” I think: again, the media! A 2013 study published in Marine Policy showed that about 100 million sharks are killed annually by humans. That’s about 190 sharks killed per minute. Which comes to an estimated 6.4 and 7.9 percent of all sharks are killed annually. Same study showed that on average, 5 humans are killed by sharks each year. So, who is the dangerous one? We are! Knowing all this, I wood still freak out if I see one while swimming.

A man who was out on his personal watercraft off the coast of North Carolina found himself surrounded by sharks in a “feeding frenzy” on April 13. The man, Brett Barley, captured footage of the moment he spotted what he initially thought was a small group of sharks feeding on a large school of baitfish. As he moved in closer to film, a much larger group of sharks suddenly surfaced around him, encircling his watercraft.
