I visited London (and a good bit of the south) in the mid-90's and loved it. While the hubby was working, I took the U all over London, by myself, chatting up locals and taking in the sights. It was absolutely wonderful. What I see today, makes me sick to my stomach.

Every subsequent wave of industrialization spreading from the UK was ultimately fueled by Indian labor and Indian commodities.
