Australians deserve to know exactly how their money is being spent and what is being discussed behind closed doors. I then queried the Minister regarding concerns raised by US House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan about the Commissioner’s conduct. While I support protecting children from harm, we must be vigilant when unelected officials are labelled "extreme" by international peers. Lastly, I was interested to know what the Commissioner's philosophy was regarding censorship, noting the "enormous power" that has been given to her. She denied being a censor, stating she only acts on public complaints regarding "highly damaging" and "refused classification" material, specifically excluding political speech. The eSafety Commissioner has enormous power over what you see and say online. 🇬🇭🇪🇸 A Ghanaian woman living in Spain has expressed her frustration over the high taxes deducted from her salary. According to her, what has added to her frustration is being required to do “La Renta”, the annual tax declaration process in which residents report their income to the Spanish tax authorities. She claims that despite already having taxes deducted from her earnings, La Renta” has asked her to pay even more. The woman further alleged that when she complained to the authorities that the taxes were too high, she was told that if she could not comply, she should return to her home country. According to her, they also remarked that if her country were better, she would not have moved to Spain in the first place.

Her sister works in nurse staffing and was taking work calls at home in the living room, discussing patient information out loud and even making comments about patients while the family was sitting right there watching a movie. The woman says she’s a mandated reporter herself, so she felt she had no choice but to report it. So here’s the question — was she right to report her own sister, or should family loyalty have come first? Would you have done the same thing in her position? If I felt this strongly about what my sister was doing, I would have had a conversation with her first, not just report her.
