As I non-native Texan, I have to say, chili without beans is basically sloppy Joe. 🤷🏽♂️

No. And making chili from canned ingredients for a competition is lame. That's not cooking, that's heating slop.

When he says "jarlic"

That ain’t chili that is frito pie without fritos. Chili ain’t got beans.

They make chili without beans and it’s still called chili?

It’s just burger soup w/o the beans. Beans are essential, period.

I prefer beans in my chili. I make a few different types of bean soups. None of them would be mistaken for chili

If it's chili "with beans" then yes. If it's just chili, then no...if you look at ANY can of chili, it will either say "chili" or "chili with beans". Beans are just a filler and are completely optional.

Why is nobody even remotely interested in the little bottles he has holstered to his arm? I've spent the best part of 20 years in professional kitchens and have never seen anything quite like it.

wtf? Beans are like the primary ingredient in chili.

If you want to win a chili cook off never use "chili powder" or "chili seasoning". Go to the Mexican store and buy some dried chilies. I like a mix of guajillo, ancho, and arbol chiles. Experiment and create your own flavor.

The only chili is Texas chili. That other stuff with beans and noodles is basically yankee goulash. NO frijoles con chili!!!
Nope. never. make bean soup if you want but its not chili.

Not much effort to that chili. Gotta put some heart and heat in it Beans always optional

Freshly "spooned" garlic is the secret here 😉

as long as there's beer in the chili i'll allow it.

Beans belong in chili and chili belongs on spaghetti

Not if you’re in the great country of Texas

Yes, I’m old. I need the fiber

Beans do belong in chili. I use Brooks Hot Chili Beans, and being from the Midwest, we sometimes add noodles (spaghetti or elbow) to it as a filler.

The second he said, cans and jarlic, I knew he was full of shit.

YES! I will die on this hill 😂

My wife says yes.

Chili without beans is sloppy joes, anyone that says otherwise is dumb 🤪😆😆

Only if you call it Chili with beans

It's a personal preference kind of thing. Just like some people don't like Chili made with ground beef instead using cut up chuck or sirloin. Some people make it with different kinds of beans, some don't add pork sausage. Myself I make it all ways just depends on my mood.

The only canned stuff allowed when making chilling is crushed tomatoes and tomatoe paste… lame af

Chili without beans is hot dog sauce

I just know whatever bathroom that guy uses after eating that is going to have nuclear fallout

I can go either way on beans. Noodles however are required

Nope. I prefer Texas red chili

Questions like this are for retards. I couldn't care less if you want to put bananas and gumballs in chili that I am not eating. Gatekeeping other people's food is something that insufferable assholes do.

Hot dog chili, no. Chili to eat in a bowl… yes. But completely different seasoning, taste, and texture.

Yes. Chili without beans is sloppy Joe filling. Case closed.

Never. It ain’t chili if beans are in it.
