Leaving trash everywhere is how wilderness shooting areas get shut down. Seems like an easy concept but here we are.

Years ago at a public range, two "kids" (late teens, maybe early 20s) were walking out their target during a cease fire break. The target was a 50" tube style TV. One of the shooters yelled at them that if that tv touched the ground, he was arresting them on sight. No idea of he was really a cop, but I appreciated watching them stop, turn around and walk it back to their truck.

In New Mexico's public shooting areas, we would have people the locals call "Range chickens" who would peck for brass and even sift out the lead projectiles to take for reloading. Know what they left? Tires, Pallets, mattresses, SHOTGUN SHELLS, car parts, coolers, bottles, etc.

What is great is when they leave a bunch of garbage and one peice has thier mailing address. Just plunk the whole mess in thier front yard.

Amen. Out here we have lots of BLM land, and if there is a road a 2 wheel drive can get down, it's covered with crap. Old targets and stands, shot shells, etc. I've hauled truckloads of that stuff out over 50 years, and it sucks.

I have seen a lot of shooting areas closed because people left trash, shot up targets, cans, boxes, brass, shells, you name it. When you shoot, don’t litter. Pick up after yourself. It’s not hard and eliminates a potentially complaint that could close the range to the public.

Also, cigarette butts. As a friend once said "show me a cigarette smoker, and I'll show you a litterer."

If you pack it in, pack it out.

As a thru-hiker I try to always pick up trash when outside. Leave no trace!

Technically, rotors are biodegradable. Probably about as quickly as the clay targets. Just add water, oxygen, and time. THIS DOESN'T MEAN IT'S A GOOD IDEA FOR THE REST OF YOU DICKHEADS.
