Do good people make bad leaders?

We don't need rulers. We need free-market capitalism. The state's monopoly breeds corruption and concentrates power. Bad rulers are its symptom. Decentralize. Maximize voluntary exchange. Limit coercion. That's the path to prosperity.

I think the same applies to leadership in companies. People often assume that the leader of a corporation is inherently bad. So it is a constant test to be a good leader with constant suspicion about motives, skills and intent. I think most good leaders aren’t seen as such until they are gone. Great post Lina!

The problem is that it has become mainstream to non-stop sh*t on politicans, from Late Night "Comedy" to basic news. Many people seem to be in a competition to one-up each other with heckling their leaders, so hardly anyone with good intentions and the required skill wants to go down that path anymore. Being a good leader today is like walking naked on hot coal while the people you're trying to govern torture you with a thousand cuts each day, bury you with lawfare and watch for the slightest exploitable weakness like a cabal of assassins. Which sane person wouldn't abandon politics for a better life instead? The ones who are left are almost exclusively weak cowards, failed businessmen, corrupt puppets strung along by outside actors or bad faith fanatics. It will get a lot worse before it gets better.
