Why didnt I see this panic when Biden was giving our emergency reserves away to foreign countries and was emptying it out, closed pipe lines, stopped off shore drilling, cutting permits, and was initiating the green new deal agenda and Obama had our gas process way much higher?

Gas is back to the price it was 2 years ago. Not even close to the peak 3 or 4 years ago. I don't like it but the doomsday shit is a little much.

Well, I think it’s a push to bankrupt oil field workers and do land grabs for data centers. My husband was laid off in May 2025, and those skills aren’t transferable. Matching the financial benefit will never happen. My husband has done nothing but oil field work for over 20 years. They said the price of oil was too low to keep producing. Now it’s the uncertainty of what will happen after the war, and they are laying rigs down. We have been struggling since 2019. We live very modestly: 2014 and 2015 vehicles, a tractor, no boats, no ATVs, no vacations in the last 11 years. No insurance on anyone, just cars and house (I guess they’re more important). Every year we owe taxes even though we set aside 30%. I’m in my WTF era! I’m 48 and my husband is 51. We are just so tired of stretching it. COVID hit three months after we spent our savings on a down payment for our forever home. It was only a week later when he lost his job. We worked so hard, followed all the laws, and tried to live right. It doesn’t matter. Credit card companies cancelled our cards even with no balances, which dropped our credit score. Mortgage companies were way too happy to pause payments for hardships. We soon found out because insurance payments went up so much, which has to do with your equity and is typically rewritten or recalculated at the end of the year. Somehow we thought we were all caught up and only had the basics to pay for, only to come out two house payments behind. They are doing everything they can to get us to refinance our 3% interest loan now that the high-paying job is gone and the credit scores are lower. I just can’t stand it anymore. Shit costs too damn much for what people are making. There is so much bullshit we are forced to buy just in case when we are killing ourselves to pay for what we need to live. Not even to mention Christmas, Valentine’s Day, spring break, prom, school sports, school field trips, kids’ clothes, shoes, and teenage girls—the “I needs” never end! I haven’t even bought groceries this week, and we have nothing till Friday. I just really don’t understand. I think everyone just lives on credit! It has to be, because if you are living within your means, you probably skip a few meals just so there’s enough for everyone else! Sorry for the feel-sorry-for-myself rant. God blesses me every day with healthy kids and my forever blessing of an amazing husband. I just miss what I took for granted: simplicity! Oil was trading today at $90-91 with Brent crude around $102… not awesome but far from a crisis. Under Obama we had three years over $100 a barrel. Under Biden it peaked to $120 and had to sell 180mil reserve barrels to get it to $95. Let’s keep it in perspective.

I’ve been here 50 yrs. One thing for sure, NO matter what a barrel of oil costs, oil based products on the shelf have never decreased in price. Unless, it was the clearance aisle! Now, before 2006, Diesel cost about half as much as the price of Gasoline. No one remembers THAT!

In 2015 I worked in the oil field and it is 100% true. Also, at about $65 and below, people start getting laid off due to less exploration. It happened to me.
