I never thought about this till you mentioned touching the blade. I’ve never seen a depiction before of someone half swording a katana. Is that really something no one ever really did when they were in use?

Well, I believe there are techniques where you do put your hand on the spine of the blade - touching the blade can be usefull ofc. I meant more like - do not do this if not needed 😅

What is the most genuine as far as katanas. I would love to get a clay hardened blade but so many are fake now.

Well ALL "katanas" will be a replicas besides the real Nihinto, which is extremely expensive 😅BUT the closest we can possibly get would be a tamahagane steel, japanese silk, real hamon and high grade polished model
