I had the opportunity to pay off my mortgage 8 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I have zero debt and no worries.

I'm 58 and I paid my mortgage off at the age of 32. If you have the cash, pay it off. Best thing I ever did.

Really stupid advice. Pay your mortgage off and then save the ongoing payments. Much less risk and the house is yours with no chance of a repossession. Obviously if you have one of the 1.5% fixed rates from a few years ago wait until it expires as you can obviously earn more in a savings account at the moment. As for the stock market, as someone who has been through 4 crashes it's not all up and we are due another one in the next few years. My advice is Ignore people like this 🧐

I finished my mortgage in 10 years, saved $40000 in interests by paying it down faster, now i have $1200 extra every month now to do what i want. How is that a bad thing?

Glad something else has said it because I realised when I took out a new mortgage that it was designed to never be paid off. After 5 years I’m estimated to of paid off £6k-£7k on over £50k of payments 😆 it’s like a tread mill where you never reach the end.

Well mortgage does mean death pledge...you think you're taking control by re-mortgaging but they're all front loaded with the interest, making as much as they can out of you before you leave in search of a better 'deal'. We're slaves to the system
