Best career advise. Do your job well and be as vanilla as you can. Don’t get emotional, stay focused on your next bigger move, and never ever talk to anyone about your vision / things you do outside of work. Always STFU. Talk about weather and BS

Fairly sure she is 95% talking about her female coworkers. But she won't say that out loud ;-)

No always so black and white. I made some good friends even with those that found new jobs. But there definitely are untrustworthy people... 1. Be pleasant 2. Don't overshare 3. Don't ask invasive questions 4. GET BACK TO WORK

And be careful about what you say about your coworkers, to other coworkers in private. Keep things like opinions to yourself, unless you Really have that trust in who you're talking to. Better to refrain.

This thread should be given to everybody starting work for the first time. It’s the only career life lesson that’s mandatory.

The work place is a war zone, subconsciously they are all competing for promotions or to be the best worker to get the best treatment from the work place, nobody are friends

True. But sometimes it’s fun leaking false info all over the place to find out who the snakes are.

Not just coworkers. Be very careful about sharing your problems with others even one's you consider as friends. Because 60% won't care, 30% will be secretly happy and maybe 10% will actually care. And the sad part, it's almost impossible to which is which.

Iv worked in shift-work with large groups of 'workmates' for over 15 yrs, now been self employed for 13 years. Not easy to keep things to yourself in when working with large grps, ul be marginalised and bullied, facts. Being self-employed is the key to freedom, answer to no one

After years I just got a realization that the day my Dad passed away, I lost the only man in this world that would be happy to see me win, even rooting for me to make it in life to a better stage than him. None other would be happy with your success.

The way our society is setup, for a lot of people, work is their only socialization. Especially if you work a desk job where you can't get away from them. They will come up and talk to you about the most mundane things just to have someone to talk to. It's really sad.

never share your personal life at work. Never let them think you need the job. If possible have two part time jobs.

This is not true. I work at a place where I have had to trust every single person I work with more than once and not one of them let me down on any occasion. I trust all of them and they trust me. It’s entirely possible that you work for a terrible company. I suggest finding one that fosters trust and honesty. You will be infinitely happier.

This is so right. Keep your powder dry and only come forward about your plans either on the way out or after leaving!

I knew this guy at work. He was from San Francisco came to TX with his family because well you already know what happened in 2022, anyway long story short he shared our dark humor jokes in Dms to HR. (I was fired because he cried wolf) Funny how you do so much for someone being a good friend and helping out people and BAM your life gets ruined by jealousy. Yes it was jealousy.

Don’t bring your feelings to the work place. It’s a business deal only. Don’t talk about your personal life ever 👍🏻

Saw this happen to a coworker who would eat his lunch break at home. He would play COD or halo during that time and return back to work on time. His roommate who also worked in the department reported him. Leadership did nothing but learned a lot.

True. I was dissatisfied being a Realtor, as there were so many dishonest people in the business, and I told a co-worker, only one. A few weeks later the broker sacked me because I wasn't happy with the work. The co-worker denied it, of course.

Why are you in a job where you are not moving toward your real goals? Thats continuance and normative commitment where you live in fear rather than choosing a job where you make others lives and your own life better as a result of being in it. If you just want the paycheck, then let that paycheck come from your goal -or its not worth doing! Don't make others people's lives harder because you are side hustling and expect them to support you for it - this is whats wrong with the economy and business today - everyone's saying, "support me, even if it screws you." You're basically saying don't trust your co-workers - but they CLEARLY shouldn't trust you either.
