I havnt used tabs in years, for this exact reason. The concept of tabs doesn't make sense inside of an editor. There is no state to be had inside the tab, so it's pointless. Once you go 'no tabs' you'll never go back. 👍

Ctrl + p is enough, if you decide to push # in Ctrl + p it's even more cracked

I see it as the classic UI pattern: When you lay out a menu, if it's over, like 4 elements, then the horizontal layout is overwhelming. We've learnt a long ago that for more items, we go vertical. File tabs are just that: a quickly growing horizontal menu – kinda terrible. When you turn them off, you learn to rely on the more convenient vertical layout (that you get with cmd+p). Plus, you get the search:)

What if VS Code only allowed you to have two tabs open in the free version, but if you wanted more you had to pay, like TablePlus?
