I see his point and agree to a certain extent. My issue is coaches can get anywhere between 20-30 years/chances to get things right. Change schools, recruit new players, change systems, hire new staff etc.. College players get 4-5 chances max. Makes me prefer player freedom

I agree with Coach Izzo wholeheartedly!

I agree some what. But we also need to learn it’s ok to leave a bad situation. Don’t just stay in bad relationships, or work environments you don’t fit into, or places you don’t enjoy just because people think you should. You can go to a school and realize I don’t fit in here.

This is awesome!!!! You mean adversity is good? Love it!!!!
Its ok to fail but without the portal you have to live in that failure for 4 years. If you make the wrong decision as a high schooler or are a late bloomer you have no recourse to better yourself without sitting out.

What about coaches who take advantage of the portal to push kids out the door they no longer want in order to clear up scholarships? Let’s also hold them accountable for the role they play in promoting this new idea of transfer free agency

It's the broken promises that also destroy kids. Some are able to handle it, and some are not. Some coaches need to do better in building lifelong relationships with the kids, and those kid won't leave.

He has a point. But he forgot to mention how often coaches (including him) will encourage certain kids to transfer only because the coach wants to turnover the roster

I've seen it work very well at #UVA. Some players can't fully buy into the Packline, will never get minutes, and leave, as they should. Meanwhile, we've added Trey Murphy, Sam Hauser, Braxton Key, Ben Vander Plais and other key pieces to the program's success.

I love Coach Izzo, and he's right. However, if he left Sparty, he geta to coach from day one at his new job. It's only fair that a player who signed with him has the same right. The rule should be limited to 1 transfer, though.
