Do you agree with Linus? 🤔

He is right though. Despite he is red like a tomato, I still trust him.

I do, he is right about the hype we have seen it before with outsourcing IT and Cloud computing as an example. It’s never a complete solution like it’s sold as.

So with him. I'm not interested in commercial AI at all. There are way too many privacy and data safety issues with it. What's only interesting to me is open source LLMs that i can run on my own hardware. And this technology is just starting to get good.

There's a lot of hype but on the other hand, corporations see this as an opportunity to get rid of more people and replace them with machines. To them it's a big cost savings. Doesn't matter if it ultimately destroys the middle class even more. Short term profit for long term nothing. I mean, at some point someone has to buy their slop but they are too dumb to realize that the people who would buy their slop are jobless and homeless at this point.

Not sure when the interview this came from was filmed, but Linus also still doesn't have syntax highlighting in his code editor: "I tried multiple times finding an editor that is more modern and does fancy things like colorize my code"

100%. people are already taking what AI is saying as the absolute truth and willfully ignore how inaccurate it is (or can be)

I support Linus by default.

Very much so. Each iteration of “the brand new thing that’ll change the world” in IT, always needs to be settled, bedded in and understood before it approaches public acceptance and trust. It’ll happen. But it’s not the Big Bang that the press believes.

Yes, but I don't believe it's something that will be fixed in 5 years. 🐾.

I like using AI to consolidate my web searches, usually for technical info. So, instead of getting 1 millions+ results in Google that I have to search through, I can get a summarized, succinct response in Grok.
