I think the thing is, back when music mattered the audience didn’t just stand there with cameras in ya face like paparazzi. The crowd fed the artist love and energy that would be reciprocated back into the crowd. Fair exchange ain’t no robbery. Now, there’s nothing for the artists to feed on. However, I feel that you should deliver 110% every time so that the next time somebody streams your song, the first thought they have is that one time you killed it at the Pavilion. You don’t want a negative memory to be tied to a great song bc your base will eventually tie you to bad feelings on a subconscious level and the next thing you know, you’re a guest on “Remember When?”. 🤷🏽‍♂️ @jermainedupri

Yes it matters. My support and interest will be removed, if I experience it personally and or the Artist has a history of terrible shows.

Man, Brody, yes, I do. I would be very upset, because I would expect them to at least sound somewhat like the CDs or the music that I Downloaded I don't want to get millie Vanillied..... JS🤔🤷🏾‍♂️

Bad shows absolutely matter. If I attend a show and things are off I am never going back and will tell anybody else not to see the artists. In my experience the older artists from the 70s & 80s era care more about giving a great show. There was more emphasis on it back then.

An artist can have a bad night on tour and make up for it at the next show. But if it’s a one-time concert for a awards show or special and you drop the ball, there’s no second chance to fix that first impression. That’s why I’m hesitant to pay to see live shows 🎤💯

Yes I care. If they don’t sound prepared or it looks like some shit they’ve thrown together I’m pissed. I’m also very tired of podcasters who don’t know what tf they are talking about but somehow found a way to speak for us. I’m over it!

iThink caring about the quality of an entertainer'$ performance correlates w/the crowd's own stress. Most people use musical ent as a way to cope(artists feel that energy) I've helped artists de-stress b4 performances so they can feel like they will perform better..issa see-saw

Mix bag, fab one of my favorite artists, he puts on the worst shows each time. He just stands and does nothing, i wont ever go again, But if he comes out with a new song/album im still getting it.

Absolutely a bad show matters, especially considering the prices we're being charged to attend a concert. I would rather an artist not do any shows at all if they're just going to half-ass after i shelled out my money 🤷🏽‍♀️

The major labels are not investing artist development, not structuring their careers with the right branding and styling, connecting them to the right songwriters and producers so they can deliver melodic, rhythmic, traditional ballads and party jams with catchy lyrics suitable for radio and TV, but still strong for clubs. Why aren't men singing songs about looking fresh for the weekend, out the barber shop, new clothes, money in the pocket and going out Saturday night with their boys looking for girls? Why don't women sing about hitting the salon, going shopping, being fly in their ride and looking for the right party? Feel good music? Plus ballads about a man winning his girl back or a girl stepping out away from cheating man and being single and ready to party? There's no summer cruising R&B or Radio Rap anthems and ghetto ballads. Gen Z Black kids are making "VIBE" music... what is that?? 2 minute 30 songs with dumb, autotuned lyrics and recycled beats that go nowhere. Everyone uses the Trap Beats 101 sound. They don't even have unique regional sounds & instruments or your patented snappy drums and hi-hats like 1990s and 2000s producers did. I KNOW what a JD production sounds like. The labels are not looking at Black mid-level R&B and Rap acts as assets but liabilities that need to kept at arm's length by dumping them on Spotify and Apple Music. Many of their concerts will be wack as they haven't had the dance training, breathing control, stage presence, crowd interaction and just don't have the personal capital to stage a top quality concert. Many acts like Tinashe have said they can't personally afford to stage a tour to see fans with the band, props, dancers, outfits and stage design they want. Everything that costs money has now been frontloaded on to the young acts. The same type of Black pop acts in the 2000s had MTV and BET for daily free video playing and weekly drop ins. There were sponsored tours of multiple acts, eagerly put together by labels, brands and promoters, TV specials and regular teen/ya award shows. Look at how Bow Wow, your own teen act came up: rapping, movie opportunities in Like Mike and Fast & Furious 3, regular TV appearances on 106 & Park, brand deals, songs on soundtracks like Hardball. The 2000s provided all this. Gen Z Black acts don't have this, there's no prime time mainstream TV slots for them, they've been pushed out by K Pop, Country Pop, Latino Pop, Female and Male Dance Pop acts. And when it comes to R&B and Rap acts, TV producers are STILL booking 2000s acts to perform on TV celebrations like Dick Clark's NYE! So Jermaine, understand what Ray Daniels said... If there's NO DAILY OR WEEKLY BLACK MUSIC SHOW ON TV IN THE 2020s, how do you even launch them, market them, keep them in the public conversation enough for promoters, sponsors and labels to support them in a good concert 🤔 Here's what Bow Wow had:

Bad shows do matter. If a show sucks, I don't want to pay for it. Also, please have less demonic stuff and more soul, funk + crowd interaction

Absolutely JD! Artistry matters. If you as an artist don’t care about giving a bad show, then I don’t care to give you my business.

Of course we care. A concert is considerable investment of time and resources for most people. It’s not like going to a movie, which is subject to a moment’s notice. A concert is an immersive experience. People go online, check the seating, paying critical mass for a ticket $$$&&$$$. Tell all their friends, get a new outfit, gas up the car, pay $40 for parking. Get frisked at the door, pay $25 for a drink x 4. Get their girl some merch. Miss work the next day.. Yeah, we care. That’s not a question as much a conversation starter.

Of course, That could probably be corrected in A&R & inserting in their contracts that the attitude while performing matters as much as the talent AND most importantly that the artist is getting paid properly. In the music industry there are some times issues

Of course I care about the quality of a show. Especially with the prices of shows nowadays. Last concert I went to was The Weeknd. And it was Amazing!!! Because everything you said. Sound,Timing,Visuals song selection was great! But “rappers and singers” today don’t get the art!!
