Very few games are won, large majority are lost. In addition, in baseball, there are only 2 opponents-yourself and the game of baseball.

Sort of. I don’t know. I help coach high school baseball now! My 2 cents: Baseball seems to have its own weird mechanism by which it makes you feel like you are constantly avoiding defeat versus aggressively trying to win. Which also makes it counterproductive to focus so much on winning “the game”… Baseball requires a constant focus on winning the next pitch!

Learning from that pitch then totally forgetting about it (regardless of the outcome) and refocusing on winning the next one. Over and over and over again.

I think the most mentally tough players do this….then, the situation is never too big. Everything becomes about executing whatever situation at hand.
