do you like encumbrance rules or what

My table does the rule of funny. We replace carrying capacity with how long you have to look through all of your stuff to find something.

I usually let them slide encumbrance... I know I have a soft heart

Guard:"That all?" Aragorn:"No, that's just one pocket."

To be fair most dms don't really want to deal with encumbrance and most the time just gives or let players eventually have some form of bag of holding to store their loots.

I permit bags of holding which helps mitigate the need for encumbrance

G. I. Joe RPG. Hypothetical average strength score is 3-4 points. Now imagine a character with 8. Not going to bother checking encumbrance.

Honestly, for me it really depends on how much weight the essentials eat, and how much the handbooks overcomplicate writing down the weights of everything. I've never had much issue with it in PF, but I recall in 5e Campaigns the starting gear would be a whole tedious process.

I let it slide until they carry like 3 suits of armor or some shit. Let them know straight up

If you let the party "find" a bag of holding at 1st level, it will save everyone a lot of recordkeeping...

Thats why I push players to purchase a cart & donkey soon as possible. (Non adventure gear stays in the cart and is tracked separately)
