would guess that planning conversations in one's head is much more related to neuroticism than introversion.

I’ve never planned a conversation in my life. I got the extreme integrity and justice autism and I feel like I owe it to people to piss them the fuck off with my stream of consciousness

My consciousness loop is really slow so I'm actually not even aware of what I say until after I've already said it. A lot of the time I don't remember it very well, either.

Do you support Trump's exective order declaring a national emergency at the southern border?

I figured this was pretty universal. I could see socially anxious people doing it more frequently or with greater intensity, but most people go into social engagements having at least and idea of what they’re expecting out of others there.

Obsessively rehearse conversations.

I have been running a conversation through my head that won't happen till tommrkw night for like 2 days. I not going to be able to stop playing it until it happens. If I know a conversation is coming I will think about it. Regardless of severity.

My take: Your confusion is because you didn't get your autism diagnosed. The people I know who do this as much as you're describing are autistics. I bet there are dozens of traits you incorrectly think are universal. Maybe this is why I love your books so much.

When I had to make announcements on a PA of course I repeated it several times before going 'live'! But verbatim conversations practice is useless because people never say what I predict. Instead I prepare by knowing my agenda and as many facts as I can.

Drifting in the moment is nice, sometimes. Yes, it can be done, but you've hit on the main reason you don't: anxiety. The thing is, though, you can short-circuit that feeling by just not giving a shit, too.
