It’s a Douglas C-49 (DC3) quite similar to the C-47 ☺️👏

The gooney bird according to WW2 troops. C 47 to the nerds. Puff the Magic Dragon when properly attired.

The DC-3, or the military designation C-47, One of most iconic and amazing aircraft ever, Some are still in service as small commuter airlines ( I believe ).

Douglas Aircraft Company built this specific plane as a DC-3 for American Airline in 1943, but then sold it to the United States Army as a C-49J. Beautiful plane

WW-II vintage McDonald Douglas DC-3? Paratroops transport plane for D-Day drops behind the German lines in eastern France! 🇫🇷🧐

Yes, it's a C-47, the first A/C that will probably still be certified to fly for over 100 years. Had the privilege to jump out of one while stationed at FT Bragg. Great airplane, helped win WW-II

Many years ago I took a flight to get to my next assignment with the Army in Texas. Plane was an old DC-3 prop job, had canvas and metal seats, In-flight refreshment was green glass bottle of Coca Cola and a bag of salted peanuts. Landed in Texas on a red clay runway, the terminal was an old trailer. At least the trailer had an AC, plane didn't. Never heard one person complain. Stewardess was pretty too. Yeah, we smoked...

Got to jump one in Honduras

Ce bon vieux Dakota ! Ah le bruit de ses moteurs Pratt & Whitney, c'est juste inimitable.

Now with a turbine.

C-47. Rode it from San Juan to Ponce w/CaribAir. Flew the valley below the mountains. The back door was open with a velvet rope across. It had a horn and on very final the pilot was blowing it. At the time, Mercedita had a grade crossing and cars would stop for landing aircraft.

C-47, looks like that one has seats in it, Airborne!!!

That dude is still flying. In a past golden age, California (Santa Monica and Long Beach) built 10,000s of them.

Douglas C47 la version militaire du DC3 civil Virginie 😉🫶💙🤍❤️

Military version of the DC-3 designated a C-47 by the Army Air Corp. The airplane of choice for dropping Paratroopers.

I jumped out of a Mr. Douglas at the WFFC 1996. Loud and slow and only went to 9k ft.

Douglas DC-3 (C-47) Dakota.

C 47

If the door is original that would be a modified C-53 and not a C-47. Also the windows are non standard

DC3

used as the memphis Belle

C-47

One of my all time favorite to jump out of. The Douglas DC3 or the military version C47.

Bonsoir Virginie! Merci pour cette jolie vidéo. C-47 Dakota, une vraie icône de l’Aviation!

The DC 3 was 30 years ahead of its time when it went into service in 1936. An amazing airplane.

what we Brits call a Dakota - but A US one, so DC3 with D-Day markings, flown for shows more than anything else these days

DC3, in San Juan Puerto Rico Airport there is a fleet of them.

I'm no expert on aviation, but from what I understand, that's probably one of the greatest airframes ever built and flown.

My first flight in 1965. DC3 from DCA to SAT (San Antonio) for boot camp.

C-47 or Civilian DC-3 Cadillac of the skies for deades

The Army called it a C-47 and the rest called it a DC-3. I got the chance to jump from one in 1994 and it absolutely terrifying….you dive out headfirst or you’ll hit the tail. 😬😳

Dakota

My Mom"s cousin was shot down in Vietnam as a door gunner in one. 0 survivors.
