I watched it live on tv Never forget the famous words “And there’s a steal by Bird.”

Dennis Johnson cut to the goal made an opposite hand layup at an impossible degree but that hardly ever gets brought up.

Almost every player would’ve taken that shot after the steal. Bird would prob hit it. But he said later he figured DJ would see the steal and be sprinting to the lane for a higher % shot. Turned to look for him, and he was right. Incredibly cool & thoughtful under pressure.

This has to be one of the 10 best plays in NBA history.

I think that was the last NBA game watched. Yes, it has been that long. When I saw Magic throw the ball to the opponent 3 times in a row to lose and force game seven, I knew it was kabuki theater.
