Do you remember the weird work rules and dress code stuff?

In the early 80s they are fired our receptionist for wearing a lovely wool pantsuit (bought from Lord&Taylor in Chicago and worth more than everyone else’s attire in the whole damn office, even the fake Versace bag the HR lady carried). I am still salty about that.

awful

@gothicdisco I am still mad about the panty hose rule. We had to wear them during heat waves. They were hot and uncomfortable. Every woman in the office kept a bottle of clear nail polish in their desks to stop runs.

I was a bank teller in the late 80s/early 90s. We were required to wear pantyhose, have our dress shirts unbuttoned down to the 3rd button so our cleavage would show if we bent a certain way, we had to wear heels every single day, and we were expected to make the coffee for the guys in the branch. Hubs was in the Navy and worked wacky hours. So, I would get dressed for work in the dark so I wouldn’t wake him up. One day, I showed up to work in my usual black miniskirt, but I had grabbed a pair of Navy blue hose instead of black in the dark. They actually sent me home to change, so I quit. 🙄 I haven’t worn pantyhose since then (1993).

I had to be dressed up like I was a lawyer, to work as a bank teller in high school!! Pantyhose mandatory. (88)

I remember all of this

😂😂😂😂 When I worked in America, they had the panty hose rules. Friday’s we could go dress shirt without the tie. A small group would work overtime, so weekends I’d wear shorts, exposing my hairy legs. I worked with 5-6 women doing OT. /2

We were still dealing with it when I was a teen in the late 90's. I worked at JC Penny hosiery was required. The break room had an accordion wall. One side for smokers one side for non smokers. Then the mall created a smoking break room so the smokers had to go down there.

I remember that & I wore pants every since

I sold pantyhose at Dillards for like 3 years before I moved to the Fragrance Dept. I also had to wear them everyday, I had drawer full of them and thigh highs. When I started in finance, you couldn’t wear anything sleeveless or open back shoes.

And you’d have to make a donation to the charity of the week to wear business casual on Fridays.

It was crazy. I remember smoking in a big open office and the nonsmokers just had to deal with us. So gross. And the pantyhose rule! I started at a law firm in the late 90s (!!) that had just changed their rule that women had to wear skirts. Found out 1st day.

😂😂 We had to wear hot panty hose. I hated them.

Victorias Secret: you were required to wear a suit jacket.

My mom was an ICU nurse. I was probably 12. I would visit her and the break room was right across the hall from the ICU. You would open up thatdoor and it was a hotbox in there. Smoke billowing out everytime it was cracked.Nurses in there chain smoking. 😂Crazy to think about

At least my feet didn’t sweat.

I worked at a school and all the men had to wear a shirt and tie. One of my coworkers was laminating papers and his tie got caught in the laminator. Fortunately, he was able to turn it off and someone cut his tie.

That’s why I worked in the trades, no pantyhose for me.🤭

Yup... thats why i dont feel bad talking about this the way I am. Ken Urker was a creep, too. Its even worse when you look at Gypsy's own stuff. Also, remember that weird convo when they were talking about plugging Aurora in?? Weird stuff.
