Democrats love to talk about affordability, but when it’s time to act, they offer excuse after excuse. Georgia needs leaders who will put people over special interests, and that’s exactly what I’m doing as Chairman of the Special Committee on the Elimination of Georgia's Income Tax and what I will continue to do as Lieutenant Governor.

I come from a family of working people, so when I refer to the income tax, I call it a tax on work. Because that’s what it is, a tax on the hard work that you do every day, How will we eliminate it? It starts with slashing the wasteful spending of the Whitmer administration. We can pay to eliminate the tax on work entirely (TWICE) just from the spending increases of her administration. When we get rid of the tax on work, we’ll put more money in your pocket and unleash prosperity again in Michigan.

They try to have a peacetime income tax, it’s declared unconstitutional Woodrow Wilson pushes through the income tax, the 16th Amendment in 1913. It's a 1% tax on the top 1% richest people in the country. It's not to tax the people, it’s to go after those robber barons. The Rockefellers, Carnegies, J. Paul Getty's, the Astors. It would be sort of like today that only Warren Buffett and Bill Gates and George Soros, that's what the tax is for. And so you have Taft, pushing through a corporate income tax. And only the extreme wealthy owned corporate stock, so it was a backdoor way to get at them. Teddy Roosevelt was responsible for inheritance tax, because only the extreme wealthy had an inheritance worth leaving. Oklahoma is getting left behind. We’re losing energy companies to Texas. Tennessee’s economy is growing dramatically faster than ours. And while other conservative states are creating opportunity, Oklahoma is still standing still. President Trump endorsed me because I am the only candidate with a real plan to make Oklahoma a no income tax state. In year one, I’ll ask the legislature to cut the state income tax from 4.5% to 3% as part one of a three-part plan to eliminate it completely. That means more growth. More jobs. More opportunity for our kids and grandkids. It’s time to stop thinking small. We either get on board, or we get left behind. Working with President Trump, we’ll get it done.
