Do you trust the UCP with your CPP?

Hello Janis, Thanks for your video. I think it’s important to have an open and respectful debate about this, without fear tactics and attacking one another. I have a few questions/comments. 1) As an Alberta MLA, isn’t it your role to advocate for provincial interests? To be clear, I am not suggesting you disregard Canadians, but that is why we have federal government and elected representatives. In other words, if the APP would be more advantageous for Albertans, would you support it? Why or why not? 2) Its worth nothing that Quebec has successfully managed its pension (via a third party like the CPP), and part of the investment must go into Quebec businesses. That seems like a win-win provincially. Would it affect your outlook for an APP if there was a provincial investment component? 3) From what I have seen the CPP heavily invests outside of Canada, and the return on investment is moderate. Does it bother you that the CPP invests heavily outside of Canada and do you think it should it have a minimum investment goal in Canada? 4) Have you considered pitching an opt-out option? This way if people want to stay in CPP they can, otherwise they can move to the APP program if they want to. Thanks and look forward to your response.

The CPP's return on investment for the year that just ended was 1.3%. Considering inflation was at greater than 5%, the fund is losing money. So the better question for Albertans is "Do you trust the CPP with you money?"
