Do You Want to Be A Better Programmer? Stop Being Efficient:

When I was writing code by hand, I did all of this. I was in flow zone. Holding a ton of context in my head, working through 4-5 files, how they work together, tweaking the if statements, simplifying a function, making oh so readable, writing little scripts, just for the fun of it so i could be lazy. It was satisfying. It was fulfilling. With AI, I can create software at the speed of thoughts. I create a ton of software each day. I just don’t find as much joy as i was coding.

No idea what you're talking about but generally this code comes from the tutorial I'm forcing myself to use so I'm staying relatively faithful to it, but many times I have to give up and fix things when the code gets really terrible.

Cool video, but obsolete. There's no economic value in hand-coding anymore. Unless you want to do it for yourself and just because it's a fun thing to do don't follow this advice.

The other thing you can do to become a better programmer is to stop thinking everything is black and white. You can use all the tools--generative or not--and _also_ not be a slave to pointless dehumanizing efficiency.

Just pointing out that no one is going to pay you for typing code anymore. Unless they have a sexual fetish about it. Let's stop pretending careers are this platonic romantic activities one does for the sake of the beauty of life. It can be a factor, but it's mostly for money
