Does a lead flute work in rock? Jethro Tull would have been so much better with just lead guitar.

This is clickbait? When you have a highly talented musician/front- man it absolutely works.

@movie_gal_10 Of course it works it’s freaking Jethro Tull 🙄 On the other hand your engagement farming on this post falls short.

@movie_gal_10 That ticks me off when people say that. I read every comment. I reply. There’s a guitar community on here. We share our gear, G.A.S, and opinions on music. There’s a difference between opening up a discussion and engagement farming. If you don’t like it…

Thanks 😉. Wasn’t my intention. The flute always killed Jethro for me, but the overwhelming responses are people loved it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

They did have a lead guitar. The excellent Martin Barre. And the interplay between him and the flute of Ian Anderson was what made the group, interesting and unique. Next time you use cotton buds… stop when you feel resistance.

If Jethro Tull used a lead guitar, they'd sound like the thousands of other bands that have lead guitarists, and we would have never been noticed. Ian Anderson's flute is what made them unique and stand out.

Nope, the flute distinguished them from thousands of other rock bands

Ian Anderson is musical genius! Bring a flute into rock music was an innovation not matched by any other band.
