Does anyone believe this privatised water model is working? I put this question straight to the CEO of Ofwat. This was his response.

It's clear: running our water system as a profit-making service has failed. Tell the Government that it's time to bring water into public ownership ⬇️

Go on, Clive!

@supertanskiii He talks about money, not water. And there’s your problem.

Wonder how much of that ‘asset growth’ is due to the increase in value of the land it owns rather than its infrastructure?

I suspect the growth in assets is like the growth of my house as an ‘asset’. From 100k at purchase to about 1.3 million. Not good management just property inflation ?

So, as far as the 'official regulator' is concerned... the running of water-supply companies is all about their "growth in assets".... not a single word about water quality, system maintenance, future-proofing investments, or customer service ???😡 That's #Neoliberalism for you!

@labourlewis - Are these assets valued by the Trump estate? @Ofwat are clearly not fit for purpose! Like @ofgem they are there to supposedly protect the consumer but in all cases it seems like the protections is for the businesses profits.

My take on this is that Ofwat are simply a “spokesperson” for the Water companies and are directly complicit in the “fraudulent” model they are operating?

Rule of thumb - anyone who says 'absolutely clear' does not intend to be absolutely clear. It was one of David Cameron's favorite phrases.

@supertanskiii So he sees success as a monetary standard. Sod the infrastructure, sod the pollution, as long as the balance is positive all is good?
