It makes no sense because they skipped a huge chunk of his backstory. Had they properly explained his story, scenes like this wouldn’t be a hot mess.

Unfortunately all the comments are gonna be like it’s in The first shadow. He’s in Joyce play. He would’ve been above them, not where they were for what happens in the play. It’s annoying they made a whole stage production of his backstory & didn’t even explain it in the show.

this only means that, that play henry did back then has a huge part of him that’s why it was like passage way to find him. it’s a memory that is so close to him and yet they didn’t show us why. 😔😔 they could have explain it but they didn’t

Unfortunately this is what happens when you put all your characters story in a play that was not promoted very well and only available in two cities and then assume ppl have seen it and just piece it together

I don’t know if it was confirmed but Joyce’s play in the memory took place on Nov 6th. So i assume Max used it to jump straight to the same day in the present.

I shouldn’t have to watch a play to understand understand anything in this show. May watch it one day.

That 1959 Hawkins High scene comes straight from the canon stage play 'Stranger Things: The First Shadow,' where we see young Henry Creel (around 12) already in Hawkins. I think it's a moment of trauma for henry, in the 1st Shadow play he thinks he causes his friends death at that point in high school, thats what Max is waiting for as she looks up, similar to when Max and Holly go in the cave that trauma leads to where they need to go

Also how is Henry supposed to be the same age as Jocy and Hopper? When he met eleven it was only a couple of years before all this?

They never show them climb up into dimension x & no one ever imagined a dimension slamming into ours might not line up even with a radio tower

Max being stuck in Henry’s mind for over a year she learns to navigate through it.

I thought I read or was told that the night of the play is when Henry went home and killed his family. So there’s a connection between that memory and Henry’s home. Max said all the memories connect, but there are long ways and short ways to move between them.

I took it as it being the curtain. There's the curtain that opens and closes a play but curtains in a house too. So the shortcut is going from "curtain to curtain"

Folks say its from the stage play... but doesnt that introduce stuff that isnt acknowledged? like they dna being changed or something? which makes it super weird that they just let go at the end?

They literally just should have had Henry in the memories. Like why could we see Holly or Henry in his cave memory but Henry was MIA in this one.

I feel like this was all just to make the play happen or give people a reason to watch it or make it canon

Honestly feel like this is one of the best scenes of the finale… super well paced and had me on the edge of my seat. Only part of the episodes where I felt like there were any stakes

Basically the play explains that henry creel went to high school with joyce, hopper, and the rest of our main characters parents. The day max and el jumped to was the day of joyce’s play that everyone was in for some reason (hopper, ted, karen, and eddies dad)

it’s because it’s was a traumatic memory, and max spent 2 years there so she knew how to go straight to where they needed
