Los Bravos’ great 1966 success “ Black is Black”.Lead singer was Mike Kennedy(German-born Michael Kogel),one of two members of the group who is still alive.Kennedy’s powerful voice is sometimes compared to that of the late, great Gene Pitney.

On my 10th birthday in 1966 I got a small transistor radio. I was SO proud to get it. When I installed the battery and turned it on this song was playing. Good memories! 🤗🎶🥰

Los Bravos, from Spain. They couldn't speak English and had to sing the song phonetically.

Los Bravos (Madrid 1965) hit the US charts with this #4 hit (‘66) in spite of the fact they didn’t speak English. How many other great bands have we in the US missed out on? I know of at least one other from Madrid; Los Secretos (1978). This band blew away Mexicans and other Latinos with hits like “Pero a tu lado”. For me personally, great Spanish-speaking bands are reason enough to ‘aprender a entender español’ ; it opens up a whole new world of music. . . .

Los Bravos! In my LA area school all the Mexican kids loved it bc they thought the band was Mexican. Ha ha they were Spaniards! Never had a taco in their lives!

Honestly, hard pass. That’s a really crappy recording. The singer is trying too hard, and the sound is choppy and amateur. You must have been a kid to think this was any good.
