There's a scene in the comics where Cyclops' long-absent dad asks him to start a fire with his powers, and he's just like "wow, you don't know a goddamn thing about me".

my favorite explaination was that his eyes were portals to a dimension that is pure concussive force, which was nicknamed (by fans) "The Punch Dimension". Sadly, this explaination is no longer canon and people at Marvel hate talking about it. :(

Because I've been an X-Men and comic book fan for such a long time I already new this but it's always fun to see peoples reaction when they find out it's not heat vision

Um actually hitting something does create heat, i dont remember if its because of the friction or smtg else but i remember a video of someone cooking a chicken by slapping it.

Some claimed he could start fires with friction from focused blasts, Earth-X straight up said in the over time he learned to make them hot... I think? I always thought they were hinting that the "other dimension" Was Cyttorak's Realm. A Dimension of force? The color is right...
