If devs want a game to look good, they’ll make it look good regardless like how WuWa literally heavily modified UE4. Imagine there’s a realistic FPS called TTK Testing made on fucking Roblox engine by just 2 guys, yet people excuse billion-dollar companies for doing far less.

Straight up answer. Yes obviously. But doesnt mean engine determines a game to be stunning, that depends on how you present it. To this day, the OG Spyro game trilogy still baffles me how good it looks.

No only a certain fanbase uses engine as a excuse

Nigga, the map matters too Endfield is NOT an open world nigga

Both companies almost made their own engines, one is heavily modified UE4, other is modified Unity, so im saying it doesn’t really matter about engines, but devs effort.

well there is a certain community that likes to blame the engine instead of the devs you know

I think they just don’t have a clue what a gamedev is even about, they are just consumers with no outlook that’s it

It does, more on the devs side anyways. Easier to use but as per usual with Unreal’s rep it gets buggy and optimization issues way more often and is even more difficult to get under control; Unity has a steeper learning curve and takes longer to master, but amazing once you do🤔

Nope it depends on who made the games, are they good designer or bad designer or LAZY designer?

Game engine don't matter. Endfield's game textures are very nicely done. That's why the game looks great!

Both are doing phenominal job, but AKE relies so much on baked lighting that they have to lock the time for every map, while WuWa is utilizing so little of baking that the optimization became major headache every new update. I imagine something in-between should be very nice.

Both look like engine demos.

@VeraAngelivya22 son how does that effect graphics and how the game looks smh

@Oscar_Figueroa1 @VeraAngelivya22 not very sharp are you. Engine matters a lot in what type of games you make. You can make anything look good 10 fold when the player is only restricted to seeing the view from one direction (often a 2D image like the example). open worlds have to make it 3D & interactable

Riju's profile picture
Riju19 days ago

@Oscar_Figueroa1 @VeraAngelivya22 well things in AKE are still 3d you just have a world border in every region similarly many things in wuwa are also instance based

@Oscar_Figueroa1 @VeraAngelivya22 besides the post talks about engines

AKE도 배경이 예쁘고 훌륭한 게임이죠 다만 그 예쁜 배경으로 내가 직접 갈수가 없다는게 아쉬울 뿐

You actually can fly into that city. Endfiled cant. And in Endfiled you can't change the "Sun" or weather at all. Unreal support that aspect faster and way more control over that. Unity is kind of easier for that but less control over lighting bc you have to manual all.

No, hell, PGR already proved that you can achieve stunning graphics with only unity. Its just different engines offer different functions as well as various conveniences, its like asking if is it better to draw on a canvas or on a drawing tablet.

As far as I know, Wuwa is already on UE5. And Endfield is on a heavily modified Unity.

yes. talk again when arknight enfield has the same gameplay like granblue relink AKE is copying GBF gameplay but reduce the amount of the skills for 1 character has. instead they implement genshin gimmick to their gameplay

Actually more than Engine it depends on the Art Assets used for the game as the Engine renders them. And an Engine actually matters because the game isn't all about that stunning scenario.

UE graphics card perform really hard, Unity huge storage needed. Quality? can be both if the devs was good working on it.

no, people use different engines for different reasons. familiarity, flexibility, scope, etc. commercial engines comes with their own post processing and particle effects but if the devs cant even make use of it properly, it's all useless.

it definitely does when Wuwa is literally held back because of it using UE4

Also Unity in China is basically an entirely different engine then the normal Unity.

Engine is like road, you can follow or make it your own road(modified engine) or you can make engine itself. but its still depends Dev how car driver handle like he want speed up ,detail, smooth drive or something

engine doesn't matter in terms of creativity and looks and amazing graphics. but there can be limitations like different technical options and background codes and suff like that. for example Unity is easy then Unreal If you want to make games specific for mobile devices.
