More likely this dog doesn't like getting in the car, rather than not wanting to leave the beach. Many dogs develop fears of riding in the car. It can be due to any of the following: 1. motion sickness 2. being knocked around in the back unrestrained on corners, or even just the feeling of losing balance 3. fear of ending up at the vet or groomer or somewhere else bad 4. fear of the strange noises of the engine or aircon 5. previous bad experiences of getting static shocked when touching the car 6. disliking having to be kept still for a long period of time 7. anxiety related to not being used to going for car rides (first few times only for most dogs, longer for others) So you can see that fixing this problem can be difficult! Knowing the reason why takes a lot of sleuthing! Yes in some cases dogs do protest leaving the beach or park, it's just not as common as dogs who are scared of the car in general.
