A dog's loyalty shines when helping friend

This might look a little "staged," but here's a TRUE story, before cell phones did video! Walking my big dog on beach one evening close to dusk & a little kid (with zero parents in sight), apparently terrified of dogs, jumped up & ran out into the ocean, to about 2.5 feet of depth. Without a moment's hesitation, my dog splashed out into the ocean and "stood guard" about 6 feet away to the boy's left side & parallel with him to the beach. Dog just stood there. Didn't move. Didn't get closer. After several minutes, the boy came back to shore. Slowly, my dog came back to me, never towards the boy. Later that night, the News had a film of a swarm of sharks just off shore, where we were, in North Florida. Dogs literally ARE amazing.
Where were the owners in all of this doggie drama?
