After the nor’easter chewed up the Jersey Shore, a smooth dogfish got stuck circling a tide pool at Barnegat Lighthouse State Park NJ, poor thing 😢 A local angler waded in barefoot, scooped the shark up, carried it across the rocks and pier, & tossed it back into the ocean, nice job 👏 Credit: FOX Weather

MAJOR SHOWDOWN: Seattle leaders have failed Belltown business owners, allowing drug addicts to take over sidewalks for years. Councilmember Bob Kettle is MIA, Mayor Katie Wilson has no immediate solutions, and City Attorney Erika Evans says she won't prosecute open-air drug use. So now the owner of Club Dogfish on 3rd Ave is taking matters into his own hands, setting up plants and trees in his vestibule to keep out the fentanyl users. But this move could be a violation of a city ordinance to keep public spaces clear. So now the showdown begins. Will the city give small business owners a break or will they selectively enforce the law? I wonder if this will be addressed in Wilson's State of the City address on Tuesday. I like this scene because it makes the Bride look vulnerable, not invincible. Gogo’s ego gets her killed. She had two clear chances to finish her off, but she chose to play games instead. Great fighters do not waste time when they can end the fight

One of Quentin Tarantino’s biggest influences on Reservoir Dogs was actually John Carpenter’s The Thing. Not in terms of plot, but in the feeling of claustrophobia and paranoia created by trapping a group of men together who cannot trust one another. Tarantino explains: “The film that actually is a big influence on the film is John Carpenter’s remake of The Thing. It’s very similar, alright. I didn’t take anything from it, but I wanted to capture that same feeling of The Thing. In The Thing, you have all these guys trapped in this room, alright, and no one can trust anybody else. They can’t go anywhere else, and they just have to deal with each other, which is exactly the exact same situation in Reservoir Dogs. What I wanted to achieve is what I felt that film achieved when I first saw it at the theaters, the tension of those guys in that situation was so great, and there was no release of it because it was so claustrophobic, that the only place that tension could go was right into the audience. That’s how I felt when I was looking at The Thing, and that’s what I wanted to achieve in my movie.”
