i tried playing earthbound 1 and i just quit after 5 minutes cause bro can i get an explanation for what the hell psi is im so confused, the game immediately kicks off with you fighting possessed furniture and objects without explaining much and it makes me not wanna play it

and then the moment you want to get exp they’ll all disappear and you’ll get no encounters 😭

Makes me wonder if it's possible to make a TAS where LITERALLY EVERY STEP YOU TAKE makes an encounter happen. I can't even imagine how long that video would be.

Don't worry, Earthbound fixes this problem by making enemies randomly spawn in the overworld and Mother 3 fixes it even more by making every enemy spawn scripted

a lot of the people in the replies weak asf the encounter rate isn't even all that bad lol this isn't like its contemporaries dragon quest 2, final fantasy 2 or phantasy star

opening and closing the menu will reset the rng for random encounters, so occasionally pressing A now and then will generally reduce the encounters
