Back in circa 2000 I had a form group (secondary teacher) with six Toms in it 😆

I had one lad introduce himself as “Levi - its an anagram of evil”, he went into first day assembly & he pulled out a pair of scissors he had stolen from the teachers desk and cut off the ponytail of the girl sat in front of him. You can imagine the despair in the staffroom.

I used to get the kids to say good morning to the next child on the register so I only said good morning to the first one then good morning everyone after the last one.

Once taught the children of a family with the surname Pipe who decided to call their second child Dwayne. 😲🫨🤯 (Say it out loud if you don't get it immediately!)

And if you do that nowadays how many go home and complain about you ... and how many parents then ring in ...

A few years ago we had around 15 variations of Alicia, (pronounced multiple ways, Aleecia, Aleasha etc). Now we have so many children with unusual names (E European, South Asian etc) 'traditional' names are a relief. I love the children, but remembering names can be tricky!

My nephew has friends at school called Awesome and God's Gift (yes, that is the child's name!)
