Yes please… As a Canadian who lived in the US for 10 years, the differences are striking. Canada feels stuck in the past—our high taxes don’t reflect the services we get, especially with a healthcare system that’s slow, inefficient, and frustrating to navigate. The weak Canadian dollar limits global competitiveness, and excessive regulations stifle business growth. Meanwhile, the US rewards ambition and innovation in ways we haven’t embraced. If Canada is so great, why do so many companies, artists, and actors move to the US for better exposure, more opportunities, and higher earnings? Even crossing the border feels punitive, as if Canadians are outsiders in the North American economy. And let’s address gun violence. People love to criticize the US but Canada has its issues too. Despite strict gun laws, cities like Toronto see shootings nearly every weekend. We can’t pretend these problems don’t exist here. Housing is another disaster. As Pierre Poilievre highlighted in his interview with Jordan Peterson, it takes years longer to save for a down payment in Canada than in the US especially in cities like Toronto or Vancouver. Our richest province, Ontario, is now poorer than the poorest US state, and Canadians have to work more hours just to remain competitive. Canada has its strengths, but united with the US we could be even stronger. Together, we’d have access to unmatched economic opportunities, lower taxes, better healthcare innovation, & enhanced security. Combining resources and ideas would make both nations more competitive on the global stage. It’s time to consider how much more we could achieve as one unified powerhouse.
