Peggy Flanagan, the lieutenant governor of Minnesota, encouraged people to put their bodies on the line. That is irresponsible. Democrats who are encouraging people to obstruct law enforcement, they’re putting them in harm’s way with their rhetoric, and it’s wrong. Republicans shouldn’t do it. Democrats shouldn’t do it. We also have a problem that the Minneapolis police are not allowed to participate – to do crowd control. The encounter between Renee Good and those ICE officers shouldn’t have been – shouldn’t have happened. Minneapolis police should have been there as a buffer, but we don’t have it because Minneapolis ordinances prohibit them from even being there when there’s ICE in coordination. We have to change this. We have to have – Kristi Noem said it this morning – state and local officials need to help ICE do their job, not encourage people to stop them.”

Niko Medved on the unrest happening in Minnesota right now and another ICE involved shooting: 1st of all, I hadn’t heard that. For me, I’m not in politics or any of that. It’s just terrible, the violence, the division, it’s just really disappointing. I’m really disappointed in all of it. You wish you could influence it, but you really can’t from our position. That’s really awful to hear, I don’t know enough about it to comment on it, all of it just really really breaks my heart.

Timing is everything, isn’t it? And sometimes being in the right place at the right time feels well, timely, or even predetermined. With wildlife photography, it’s all about being in the right place at the right time. The more you know about your subject, the better because it increases your chances of being where you need to be when you need to be there. There is also an element of just letting go and taking what is given to you. It’s always best to have no expectations at all when it comes to wildlife. On this morning, everything did fall perfectly into place, and I was able to capture this dreamy scene of a beautiful Dalmatian pelican and its reflection on smooth water as it came in for a landing. Oh yeah, the glorious snow-capped mountains in the back were definitely a treat too. The days prior to this, that mountain range was hidden by clouds. I didn’t even know it was there. 🤪
