The hardest part was being released and losing the dream I’d worked for my whole life. But on top of that, no one came to check on me. No phone call. No message. No one asking if I was okay. Thankfully, I came out the other side. Thank God. But how many young men don’t? And to every young player who’s been released: don’t be embarrassed. You’re not alone. There are thousands of us navigating life after football, trying to find our way and figure out what’s next. The aftercare system is a disappointment. Too many players are treated like numbers rather than human beings. When they’re released, they’re often left to deal with the emotional and mental impact alone. Something has to change.

Ben Shapiro’s message to young white men is to “get off your ass and go and do the thing”. This message was the right one for a certain type of person 10 years ago when it was coming from Peterson. The problem with Shapiro’s message now is that young white men have in huge numbers gone to college got a job only to find themselves in enormous debt with no prospect of buying a house and a trying to find a partner among a generation of extremely indoctrinated feminist women. He still thinks the problem can be solved by “pull yourselves up by your bootstraps”. The problem is that men did exactly what was asked of them and now find themselves at best working as corporate slaves spending over three quarters of their working hours just to pay off debt and taxes. Not to mention that AI is taking hold which means the graduate jobs simply aren’t there anymore for millions of young people. The system isn’t working and the longer men like Shapiro don’t recognise this the uglier things are going to get.

I often see young children being made to work instead of learning. Today, they were carrying bricks using a wheelbarrow in very hot weather. I tried to speak to a teacher who was in the school yard giving instructions to the children, but she did not respond to me. While standing near this school, I asked a woman who was nearby abut this situation and she said they are afraid to speak out because their children might be expelled from the school. I am sharing this here so the children can get help. It looks like abus€. I don’t think any parent would agree for children of that age to be treated like this, especially in such hot conditions. The NFL lost another teammate wayyyyy too young yesterday in Rondale Moore. Absolutely gutting. Listen, to every athlete out there… I will keep saying this over and over and over again… when you are in pain LEAN INTO YOUR TEAMMATES!!!! They WANT to be there for you. A locker room is absolutely magical!!! It’s such a unique FAMILY. I get hiding the pain because I did for 50 years!!! Had the biggest personality to hide really really bad pain. That pain absolutely fucking sucks!! I get jt. You feel like you don’t want to be a burden to others or others won’t understand. Turned out I was wrong!! Life changed when I started opening up. It will for you too and most of all… YOUR TEAMMATES WANT TO BE THERE FOR YOU!!! So if you’re struggling, open up, it’ll only get you closer together.
