Absolutely correct. And then the fact this idiot gave $1,000 for a $200 Taurus (if it isn’t a skit) also deserves mention 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Also…I was in a BestBuy in West Nashville 10+ years ago and a face to face gun buy went bad and I guy got killed. It was near my vehicle and I had to wait a couple hours until they took the tape down.

I’m pretty sure it’s a joke like I said, but then again like I said… I hope so😂

Please be a joke.🤣🙏🏻🙏🏻

100% agree. I'll also say if I sell a gun I absolutely want to do it through a dealer so there's a paper trail, because you don't know where it will ultimately go or what it will be involved in after you let go of it. 👍

I mean, I wouldn’t do that for a family member or somebody that I knew really well, but I’m sure as hell not buying one from some rando off social media!

I think it depends on the family member. Everybody seems to have that "weird uncle" or fill in the blank who buys one of your guns and when you ask them about it six months later they say, "Oh, I sold that at a gun show." It's happened to me.

Well… ok… but what about GunBroker, Guns dot com, etc? There is no vetting process that I’m aware of on those sites either… if it’s used, it’s often coming from a pawnshop with an FFL… and there is definitely no vetting process on pawnshop guns… 🤷🏼♂️

I don’t from those places either

Understandable. I’ve bought a couple of “collectible” pieces from them… if they are “new” out of the box, it can be a great place to save some $$… IDK… I just don’t always buy from a brick and mortar gun shop… maybe I should… 🤷🏼♂️

@thereal_SnS Remember this also precluded pawn shop, and really any 2nd hand sale because "you don't know where it's been". Pity.. I built a huge portion of my collection from private sales, and pawn shops, at very reasonable prices.

@praq1966 It’s clear to see that you struggle to understand nuance

DON'T DO THIS. Purchase a firearm from someone who needs your ID, reports you to the government, requires you to have government permission (permit) for a RIGHT you already have. Buy from someone who doesn't care about your business. 3D PRINTER goes ... brrrr!

I never once implied a gun should be bought from someone that will track you

Someone like an FFL or the government?

Nonsense. A private sale is private. Perfect time point to show change of ownership if need be. I have a 500 year old Japanese sword ... who knows how much blood it has spilt in all that time. Same goes for my milsurp M1917 rifle.

It just like the Facebook dating sites. 😆😆😆😆

Isn’t that a Taurus..????

Yes

I figured it was and this has to be fake….1k for it on market place….I just don’t believe it

Im about 99% certain that FB doesnt allow gun sales off Marketplace.

Hence me saying I’m pretty sure it’s a joke.

Just reinforcing your assertion but i agree about not buying guns from people you cant properly vet. How do you know whether you just bought a gun that was used in a crime and is wanted by the police? I mean, the scratched of serial number might be a hint but other than that...

Nothing like buying a gun that's tied to a crime...

You can buy a gun anywhere if you have common sense. Ask for a picture of the serial number. Call your local law enforcement They will be happy to run the number. If the person won’t provide the serial number pre-sale you don’t want gun.

In all honesty, this is probably some liberal trying to promote the idea that firearms can easily be obtained.

No, I’m not a liberal and I’m implying no such thing 🤦🏻♀️

@deplorable1971 I agree with @badbake_offgrid , he's talking about the girl in the video that bought the gun.

@thereal_SnS @badbake_offgrid Thank you. I don't understand why the train of conversation is so difficult for some...

@shootridelive @badbake_offgrid Or you didn’t articulate your point clearly enough for everyone to understand You didn’t need to be rude

@shootridelive @badbake_offgrid I’m aware. It was rhetorical.

It's all good. The serial numbers have been scratched off.

I actually had someone on marketplace recently try to trade me firearms for my truck I put up.I said No, naturally .Just need the money to get lost in the desert .

Looks like a Taurus, I hope she didn't pay a grand for that. She could buy new for like $250

Uh... No.. Used guns are fine. But please continue to not buy them to drive the price down for the rest of us.

You missed the point

I bought a gun from a private individual at a gun show (dreaded loophole /s). As soon as I could, I replaced the barrel and firing pin just to change the ballistics. Can't be too careful.

Agreed. Any firearm bought off a social media post could have a couple bodies on it and the buyer would never know. If it became known to LEOs that buyer’s in possession of it, it is now that buyer’s problem to prove they’re not the doer. Which is harder than you think.

At the very least if you do decide to do this, keep records. Screen shot all sale details, get phone call records. Keep a definite paper trail to shift the fall onto who you bought it from in case it does have bodies on it. Obviously never buy from blacks but that apples always.

Facebook marketplace does not allow you to advertise firearms for sale

Do not pay $1k for a $200 gun 😂🤣😂 Yes I agree

Private sales are not allowed on FB.

No! that is Not a Good deal!

respectfully disagree. I am not saying FB Marketplace, which is probably a joke. But second hand non-FFL gun transactions have more peril for sure, they are a fundamental part of our rights and I refuse to give up on them.

Please show me where I said buying secondhand firearms outside of Facebook marketplace isn’t a good idea. I’ll wait.

So I'll gladly listen to you clarify the original intent of the post that wasn't left clear and through the comments wasn't clarified yet. I'll wait also and thanks for the reply.

I said don’t buy guns on Facebook marketplace. Nowhere where did I say that buying used guns is a bad thing. You made assumptions based on your bias. This conversation has run its course. Good day to you.

I'm not trying to cause discord, but I honestly feel that the OP was implying maybe more than you meant, presents an opportunity to clarify. I think as I read through the thread, many felt the same way. Either way, good day to you, wish you the best.

Buy it new or from a friend.

She never said she did a transfer or a background check. I’d like to know she wasn’t just some random woman doing well on her meds that day.

You did hear me say that I am pretty sure this is a joke, right?

$1000? Looks like a $300 XD.

As long as you make sure you get a good bill of sale that includes the person‘s identification -both seller and buyer- you should be OK. If you want to really protect yourself, go to a local FFL dealer and have them do the transfer with a background check.

Then this would be true for any private sale, at least with marketplace you’d have proof of how you bought it.

@ATF

Holy Hell, $1k for G2C? This has got to be a joke.

Let discredit government free gun sales and be a boot licker! There I fixed for you.

This has to be a troll. Not buying it. Literally.

1000 FOR A TAURUS SHE COULDVE GOTTEN A DECENT AR-15 OR A PSA ONE + AN EOTECH

Is there a reliable database or website where gun serial numbers can be searched? Even when purchasing from reputable online sites and completing in person transactions locally, I still have concerns. I searched for a service like this a while ago but was unable to find anything.
