Don't harm opossums! They’re harmless and actually really helpful. They keep pests under control by eating ticks, roaches, rats, and scorpions, clean up dead animals, and even help spread seeds. Basically, they’re nature’s cleanup crew

It’s also very very rare for them to get rabies due to their low body temp. A great animal to have around!

Opossums don’t “play dead” on purpose it’s an involuntary fear response. They can stay motionless for hours, fooling predators, while also helping ecosystems by eating ticks, insects, rodents, and even some snakes. Nature’s little survival experts.

Opossums are cool animals and good for the environment and also eat a poisonous snake 🐍

They're very beneficial and play an important part. 😊

They saved my hosta bed by eating up all the slugs. Very helpful critters!

Nature's night shift Sanitation Department deserves a raise. How much do they charge per tick?

I have ground cameras specifically to see when they're outside to give them food. Even the stray cats keep an eye out for them while they're eating.

What a lovely and dilient opossmum!

They are so laid back and calm too! Love them!!

Cat food thieves tho

👍🏻

They’re very sweet creatures.

the cleanup crew part is doing a lot of heavy lifting for a rat

Soso cute

I know all of this. They're just so fucking creepy looking. Lol. Why can't they try to look more like raccoons? For PR purposes?

@KnightGeist14 They’re freakin’ adorable to boot. 🤭

Had one of these giant rats hiss at me while bearing it's stupid little teeth. Majestic as hell, I love nature.

❤️

The most misunderstood animal on the planet!

🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻

I’ve heard they’re a net positive for your yard.

Absolutely Correct

I was walking in the woods once and saw a possum with the babies hanging on. I just wanted to follow behind and make sure none of the babies fell off! I don’t know why anyone would hurt possums. They’re so sweet.

@Yantosays Wow. How many babies?

Saw a young one last night on the trail. The tick thing is a myth

My Westie killed one. I feel sort of bad now, but that thing looks like a rat 🐀. Sympathy vanishes quick.

they ARE pests. nuke them
