Men deal with disillusionment from the time they were babies. Women (not all) get into marriage and take disillusionment as a sign that God wants something better for them, they learn the word “narcissist” and view everyone not agreeing with them as a narcissist. Find a TradWife.

Nah, I said when the kids came I'm overwhelmed n need help and I was ignored.. So I said it louder and more often, and was still ignored.. Is that still disillusionment on my part??.. Didn't think so.. Now he wonders why I hate him.. Shouldnt be a shock..

Don’t confuse disillusionment and disrespect or abuse. Some couples grow apart, perhaps they were never intended - gaps become so great that even if they share the same bed they may as well be worlds apart. This advice to stay, to ignore one’s intuition was all the advice I got; I can hear it ringing in my head, “oh you’ve been married so long, just stay and work it out”. Sometimes it’s not about the busy nature of life and sometimes it teeters on a fine line. Disillusionment in relationships isn’t always ‘just in your head.’ It can be a fine line to abuse, where gaslighting makes you feel trapped and obligated to stay. Trust your instincts—if it feels wrong, just know it’s okay to leave even if the other partner or society, as we see here, doesn’t understand. Pursue happiness and love will find a way.
