Hot take: Amazon is in trouble with a few changes in customer behaviors. 1) Amazon rental program (Buy it, use it, return it). 2) People buying from local Amazon return auctions. Before buying on Amazon I check my local auction. I buy household snacks, bath and body stuff, gifts and a few items that help with reselling for 20 to 30% on the dollar. Imagine a unified auction marketplace across the US solely for amazon returns. Whose going to build it?
