K-On was a gateway anime to slice of life for many of us

This is burned into my brain. Every time I see anyone claim they're lazy, this plays. It is beyond my control.

Ah K-On. My very first exposure to Anime outside of Naruto & Bleach. Was just scrolling through 2009 YouTube looking for Naruto clips & saw a curious thumbnail. It contains this Anime girl but with a Les Paul. It was Cagayake! GIRLS, then from there down the rabbit hole I went.

Such a good show, and watching the opening for the first time in years I just realized that the "Cagayake" the title of the opening theme "Cagayake! GIRLS" is a strange romanization of "輝け," or "kagayake." I'm far from fluent, but my Japanese has progressed so much since then.
