I like this version better because they’re both kids, but in Team Colonel it’s a grown man punching a child in the gut

Chaud definitely should have not opened up with that lmao Lan had every right to punch him But then he turns it around and gives Lan the best speech when he hands out Protoman Team Protoman was just a special game because of the Chaud and Lan dynamic

I still love how this scene gets handled in both versions Chaud understands the pain and accepts the slap knowing it might help Lan to cool down a little Baryl understands Lan but slaps him instead since he wants him to focus on helping others so they don't suffer too

It's so different in Team Colonel. Lan never mentions about leaving the team in that versions

Chaud had it coming after everything he's put Lan through over the years, but at the same time, he didn't FULLY deserve it in this moment. Sure, he was wildly insensitive to MegaMan's fresh loss, but he and ProtoMan were planning to risk everything to help Lan get him back.

These games aren't superb in terms of writing, but when they hit, BOY DO THEY HIT! This moment alone makes me so sad that this game isn't really canon because this is the pinnacle the relationship between these two, and to know that it basically doesn't happen is just... UGHHHHHH
