That is the burns from the laser used to remove the tonsils. Horrible surgery to have done as an adult.

It’s hilarious how many people don’t know what a wet scab looks like. This is every person that gets their tonsils removed…

Not mold. It’s scar and healing from a laser ablated tonsillectomy.

She had her tonsils removed. It’s essentially scabbed over and it stinks! 😷 but once healed no more sore throats.

My son had a strep throat that became infected. The ex dumped him at my house. He was 15 at the time, his throat literally closed up. There was puss and fluid on the inside of his throat and they had to cut it open and suck all of it out. His throat looked like that afterward. They did it when he was awake and not enough medication. They didn't want him to move so he was grinding his foot into the chair he was sitting in. It was awful.

The condition shown in the image on X appears to involve tonsil stones, also known as tonsilloliths. Tonsil stones form when debris such as dead cells, mucus, and food particles get trapped in the crevices (crypts) of the tonsils. Over time, this trapped material calcifies, resulting in the formation of hard, yellowish or whitish deposits. What is happening in the throat? Tonsil Crypts: The tonsils have natural pits or crevices that can trap particles. In some people, these crypts are deeper, making them more prone to developing tonsil stones. Accumulation of Debris: Food particles, dead cells, and bacteria can collect in these crevices. Over time, the body's immune system reacts to this buildup. Calcification: The trapped debris hardens (calcifies), forming the stones visible in the image. Bacterial Growth: The bacteria trapped within the stones produce sulfur compounds, which can lead to bad breath (halitosis). Inflammation or Discomfort: Larger tonsil stones may cause throat irritation, a sense of something stuck, or even mild pain. Why does it happen? Poor Oral Hygiene: Lack of regular cleaning allows more debris to build up in the tonsils. Chronic Tonsillitis: Repeated infections can increase tonsil crypt size, leading to more stone formation. Dry Mouth: A dry environment in the throat encourages bacterial growth. Diet and Hydration: Poor diet or inadequate hydration can contribute to debris accumulation. Symptoms Visible white or yellow stones on the tonsils Bad breath (halitosis) Sore throat or discomfort when swallowing A sensation of something stuck in the throat In some cases, ear pain (referred pain from the throat) Treatment Manual Removal: Tonsil stones can sometimes be dislodged gently with a cotton swab or rinsed out using an oral irrigator. Saltwater Gargles: Gargling with warm saltwater can help reduce inflammation and flush out smaller stones. Hydration and Hygiene: Drinking plenty of water and maintaining good oral hygiene can prevent new stones from forming. Medical Intervention: For recurring or large stones, a healthcare provider may recommend removal using specialized tools or even a tonsillectomy (surgical removal of the tonsils) for chronic cases. This condition is generally not dangerous but can be uncomfortable. If the stones are frequent or cause significant discomfort, seeing a healthcare professional is advised.
