What are you doing?!?!” Brock on Kyle calling in plays to him: “He tells me the plays and then lets me go. There’s some things he’ll tell me beforehand like 'Remind JJ on this to cut down his split and to look hot'. He’s done a good job with when I walk up to the line of not being in my ear and letting me play clear. Fred Warner was asked his frustration level on Brock Purdy’s ability to consistently layer his balls over him during practice: “You know me and Brock have our battles every single day and I love it. We’re getting the best out of each other, where he’ll layer a ball over or I’ll get my hand on it. That’s honestly want camp is about. At the end of the day, I’m not gonna see a better guy doing that then Brock Purdy and you have to ask him if there’s a better guy being in those windows, but at the end of the day it’s about iron sharpening iron.”

Especially when he came back from his injury this year and he started to come into his own and kinda get over that foot and get his mobility back. You really saw him come to life. You want the mindset to drive the football and Brock has both tools and Brock is exceptional at whatever layering it is, whether it’s throwing it over zoning defenders, or finding holes in the defense, he’s exceptional at that. You want the mindset as a quarterback 'I’m driving the football', and we remind him of that. He has both tools and so I think the nickname’s funny.“
