Donte Whitner on Brock Purdy’s performance against the Colts: “When I’m watching him, like right now being removed from the team, and being from afar and being a fan at home, I’m like 'wow, this motherfucker is really good'. When it comes to analyzing Brock, it’s the anticipatory plays,... show more

Brock Purdy on what Kyle Shanahan says to him at times on the headset during games: “You had the look, Brock! What are you doing?!?!” Brock on Kyle calling in plays to him: “He tells me the plays and then lets me go. There’s some things he’ll tell me beforehand like 'Remind JJ on this to cut down his split and to look hot'. He’s done a good job with when I walk up to the line of not being in my ear and letting me play clear. He’s done a really good job of that and then obviously at 15 seconds the headset cuts out.” Brock on Kyle’s thoughts of him doing the Dougie: “Reminds me how bad of a dancer I am… Kyle will say in team meetings 'Yeah, Brock’s doing whatever that cringe things is'. I’m like what are you talking about, Bro? I hit it pretty good.” via: Pat McAfee

Gilbert Arenas says the All-Star teams are embarrassing “We know who the best players in the NBA are. We know when you tune into a game, the player you’re going to see like I’m tuning in to this game to see this matchup, right? This is who sells the tickets. When you get your ticket stub, right? Think about it now. When you get your ticket stub and then have two people on it, one from one team, another from how many people’s on this list that don’t need to be on that ticket is what I’m trying to say. Some of these names when they come to town is the games you get for free. Like they throw it in the package. It’s like I’m going to see Kendrick Lamar and the Blazers. You have to take that Blazers game to get this” (Via Gilbert Arenas)

Fred Warner was asked his frustration level on Brock Purdy’s ability to consistently layer his balls over him during practice: “You know me and Brock have our battles every single day and I love it. We’re getting the best out of each other, where he’ll layer a ball over or I’ll get my hand on it. That’s honestly want camp is about. At the end of the day, I’m not gonna see a better guy doing that then Brock Purdy and you have to ask him if there’s a better guy being in those windows, but at the end of the day it’s about iron sharpening iron.”

Donte Whitner on the 49ers defensive performance against the Bears: “I’m very disappointed in this defense. Starting with the front 4 and the lack of pass rush. The displacement of run gaps from the second and third level. The defensive backs and their run pursuit… Most importantly, I’m very disappointed in the secondary and the lack of communication on the back end… That’s the type of defensive performance that will get you sent home early in the playoffs.” Donte does a great job explaining the issues in the secondary and also brings up when the 49ers lost to the Giants in the 2011 NFCCG and crying “like a baby” the entire ride home from the game via: Grit Code Podcast

Fred Warner believes Brock Purdy will bring the 49ers a Super Bowl: “He does everything elite in my opinion. Especially when he came back from his injury this year and he started to come into his own and kinda get over that foot and get his mobility back. You really saw him come to life. I think he played the best ball out of any team quarterback in the league down the stretch. His ability to process (pre-snap and post-snap), I think that’s what separates the good from the greats… Purdy does it with the best of them. I’m happy he’s on my team. He definitely is gonna get us a Bowl.” via: St. Brown Podcast

PRX mini: “The team plays very differently and communicates a bit differently, but it’s like being home, and it’s very nice that the team welcomes me in, so it does feel very natural despite it feeling, at times, very unnatural at the same time. I’m enjoying myself, and I’m honored to be asked to help them. After the first map, Tommy (PRX manager) said that alecks was like a different person. He was like, ‘You’re not the same person, like what’s going on?’ So I think maybe, [with] my presence, he’s holding back a little bit, but hopefully we’ll get to him soon.” #VALORANTChampions via Ravish Khanna

Innovation comes when you create space for it. But the wisdom and intuition that goes into that innovation comes from being able to recognize patterns over a long period of time. It’s like going against a computer at chess. You iterate and adapt your moves until you find the right combination that solves the problem. It’s one of the reasons why LLCOOLJ is still on the top of his game.

49ers OC Klay Kubiak was asked his thoughts on Brock Purdy being called “The Layer King” “There’s a time and a place. You want the mindset to drive the football and Brock has both tools and Brock is exceptional at whatever layering it is, whether it’s throwing it over zoning defenders, or finding holes in the defense, he’s exceptional at that. You want the mindset as a quarterback 'I’m driving the football', and we remind him of that. He has both tools and so I think the nickname’s funny.“

Mac Jones on if Brock Purdy is the starting quarterback for the 49ers: “They brought me here to play as a backup and that’s my job. Brock’s the starter of this team. Right now he’s dealing with something and for him to go out last week and play when you probably know he’s not at full health shows a lot. I’m just trying to get some wins for this team so it helps us down the line.”

Dave Roberts says it’s good to have Myles Garrett in Los Angeles now and that he’s no longer a Chargers fan 😂 “He’s top of the food chain, it’s going to make a good defense even better. I’m excited to see him throw out the first pitch and in a Rams uniform.” “I used to be a Chargers fan but now it’s sensitive up here.”

Asked Daniel Gafford for his impressions of Masai Ujiri & the decisions he’s made over the last month. “It is a business. I’m not necessarily surprised when it comes to some of the things that he’s done with the organization because I’m pretty sure he already had that in his back pocket when he got hired. I’m just sitting back & watching from afar…I’ve yet to get the chance to sit down & talk with him, but he made sure he called me & we had a good conversation on the phone.”

Donte Whitner on George Kittle doing drills at Tight End University: “When I’m watching the videos with my athlete eyes, he’s limping out there. He doesn’t really look good to me. If you look at other players commenting on that video, the guy is not 100% healthy. This is the first time I’ve ever seen an actual player who hasn’t been cleared by the medical staff, participate in football drills outside of the facility. I’m gonna go out and say this, he’s dangling that Super Bowl playing around with his Achilles right now because think about what he means to the 49ers offense and not just the offense, but think about what he means to this team as the emotional leader. It perpetuates and penetrates onto the defense and the special teams as well with the way that he plays. So if George Kittle hypothetically goes out there and hurts himself right now, the 49ers cannot and will not make it to the Super Bowl.” 🎥: Grit Code Podcast

LeSean McCoy on Brock Purdy: “This is the thing nowadays, it can’t just be like he’s really really good. He’s really really good. It’s either gotta be great and elite or you’re terrible. There’s nothing in the middle. I think Brock Purdy today, it’s not the first time Brock Purdy has played MVP caliber football, I think Brock is a phenomenal quarterback. He’s really really good. He’s damn good… I have a lot of respect for Brock Purdy and if he wins an MVP I’ll have even more respect for him, but for me, being around this game and watching it, and playing in it, there’s no way I’m ever gonna put Brock Purdy in the same boat as Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. It’s just never gonna happen. But you can’t say he’s not playing as good as them guys.” 🎥: Speakeasy
