When they hit the lot in ‘86, Dad took it for a test drive. The salesman and I were crammed in the back with mom riding shotgun. He smoked the tires out of the lot, got a little sideways down the frontage, and hit I-45 at Mach Fuck. Mom was hollering “SLOW DOWN”, the salesman was yelling “OK,OK,OK” and I was laughing hysterically. Needless to say my mother was not happy with him showing off so he decided not to buy it. But within a few months, he bought me a clapped out 1977 Trans Am we rebuilt but he drove it so much, I was stuck driving his old truck.

Somebody changed the turbo out for a supercharger. I street raced a silver Buick turbo way back in the day one night I was on street tires had just done motor work. I spun and he won. Went that week and got some drag radials. The next weekend I got revenge 😁

My friend Russell had that same year Monte. I can’t say it was my favorite car in any way, but Russell loved it and Russell was also my town’s biggest crackhead. When I was a senior in high school back in 2001, Russell sold his home, properties, equipment, basically everything he had ever worked for except Mad Monte for crack and moved into a trailer park. It’s dark, but Russell wanted to commit suicide by way of crack but Russell died in 2022 of COVID, and still had Mad Monte shining like it had just left the lot.
