Van Damme plays identical twin brothers Chad and Alex Wagner, separated as infants after their parents are murdered by Hong Kong crime figures (including a returning Bolo Yeung from Bloodsport). One grows up as a relatively clean-cut martial-arts instructor in Los Angeles; the other becomes a tougher, more streetwise operator in Hong Kong. They reunite as adults to take revenge and reclaim what’s theirs. Lettich (who previously wrote Bloodsport and directed Van Damme in Lionheart) co-wrote the script with Van Damme; the story draws loose inspiration from Alexandre Dumas’ The Corsican Brothers.
