Daniel Dennett on "deepities" the profound-sounding claims that are secretly empty Philosopher Daniel Dennett has a name for a type of statement that sounds wise but actually says nothing: a deepity. He explains it this way: "A deepity is an apparently profound observation that is ambiguous. It has two readings. On one reading it's obviously false, but if it were true it would be very important. And on the other it's trivially true." The trick is in the ambiguity. When you hear a deepity, part of your brain registers the trivially true reading and thinks yes, that's correct. But another part is reaching for the dramatic, important-sounding reading and that's where the illusion of profundity comes from. Dennett's favourite example, which he uses when teaching the concept to students: "Love is just a word." It sounds deep. Think about it for a moment and it feels like it's gesturing at something real. That love is intangible, constructed, perhaps even illusory. But Dennett dismantles it immediately: "Whatever love is, it isn't a word. You can't find love in the dictionary." That's the "use-mention error" confusing the word love with the thing love refers to. Once you put quotation marks around it properly, the statement collapses into something utterly banal: "love" is just a word. Well, yes. So is "cheeseburger." So is "word." The deepity survives only because we don't slow down enough to ask which reading we're actually accepting. Once you have the word "deepity," you start seeing them everywhere: in self-help, in politics, in philosophy.

🚨 BREAKING: DOJ Just SECRETLY DELETED Half A Million EPSTEIN Files OVERNIGHT — While We We're LITERALLY Looking At Them!! 😱💥 They wiped roughly 500k files in Dataset 10 clean. Gone. The most damning evidence of elite corruption and criminal activity… vanished in the middle of the night. This included: • Howard Lutnick’s full FBI investigation files (that mysteriously got dropped) • Leon Black + Epstein meeting with Steve Bannon and WEF President Børge Brende • Epstein’s Skype messages with supermodels helping recruit underage girls — some directly from Naomi Campbell • Epstein catching gonorrhea and still advising Steve Bannon • Epstein helping pick UN representatives for entire countries • Proof Epstein was a CIA double agent from the very beginning All of it was buried deep in Dataset 10 — after page EFTA01610000 (3,000+ pages in). The second you hit the text messages… BOOM. Pure gold. And now it’s all erased. But we saved EVERYTHING we saw. They can’t delete what’s already out there. They’re panicking. They denied the FOIA request for Epstein’s own lawyer and the administration is clearly desperate to bury this forever. Link to the WaPo story exposing the CIA/NSA cover-up posted down in the comments below. 👇 This is the biggest document scrub we’ve ever seen. RT if you want the full files to go viral before they disappear forever 🔥 Tag everyone. Save & share the screenshots. Credit to my bro Ali Zreik for catching them redhanded. FOLLOW Him!

Using allegations of defamation of character as a pretext to abduct and detain Mr. Dele Farotimi. A victim of Nigeria is a calculated attempt to divert attention from critical national issues. Mr. Dele Farotimi boldly declared December 3rd as a day to initiate a civic strategy against the oppressive policies of a tyrannical government that has systematically silenced dissent and undermined democracy. His detention on the very same day underscores the symbolism of this date and the lengths to which the government will go to stifle voices of resistance. As a respected activist, Mr. Dele Farotimi has consistently spoken truth to power, championed justice, and held leaders accountable. His principled stance against the government's authoritarian practices has now made him a target. Masking this unjust arrest as a defamation case highlights a broader agenda to suppress dissent and weaponize state institutions against courageous citizens. It is especially hypocritical that the current presidential spokesperson, who once defamed the president more than anyone else, now occupies a prominent position in the same administration. Meanwhile, leaders like Mr. Peter Obi, who face constant defamation and smear campaigns, remain committed to democratic ideals without resorting to authoritarian measures. This double standard exposes the government’s deep-seated aversion to accountability and its ongoing assault on democracy. Despite these oppressive tactics, we will not be silenced. We will remain vigilant, speaking truth and ensuring that Nigerians who demand justice and equity are protected. #FreeDeleFarotimi -DrMo

He Claims He Wasn’t Trying to Disrupt the Call to Prayer. 🤣😇 A piece of footage captured in Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv, recently caught the internet’s attention. It shows a traveling Scottish bagpiper playing his instrument outdoors at Abrasha Park right as the local call to prayer begins sounding over the city's loudspeakers. Afterward, the musician quickly covered his bases by claiming he wasn't trying to disrupt anything, but was just attempting a unique "cultural fusion." Sure, he can say that was his plan. But regardless of what he was actually trying to do, watching a notoriously loud bagpipe successfully drown out an amplified broadcast is flat-out funny. In fact, using a wall of bagpipe sound to take those overwhelming decibel levels down a notch isn't just hilarious—it makes you stop and wonder: is it actually a great idea? Behind the humor of this sonic showdown lies a much larger, incredibly frustrating reality about how city rules are selectively applied. This isn’t just a broad debate about public expression. The real issue is that these high-volume public broadcasts are activities that would outright break local noise ordinances in any other context. If an ordinary resident, a local business, or a neighborhood group blasted audio through commercial-grade loudspeakers across an entire community multiple times a day, they would be hit with immediate fines and code violations for shattering the peace. Yet, major legal exceptions are routinely carved out to give specific groups a free pass to bypass those exact rules. When everyday citizens are forced to strictly follow decibel limits while select entities are granted a blanket exemption to blast sound, it destroys the concept of equal enforcement. Whether the Tel Aviv bagpiper's excuse was genuine or not, his performance perfectly exposed this double standard. If noise ordinances exist to protect the peace of a community, they need to apply to absolutely everyone. True fairness means no one gets a special pass to break the very laws everyone else is forced to follow.

🚨 BREAKING: CONGRESS INVESTIGATES THAILAND AFTER NEXT NEWS REPORT — ALLY CAUGHT DOUBLE-CROSSING TRUMP WITH CHINA 🚨 The story is exploding out of Washington and Southeast Asia tonight. Because of our reporting here at Next News Network, a congressional team is now investigating Thailand’s repeated violations of President Trump’s ceasefire order with Cambodia. But that’s not all — the very nation that calls itself America’s ally is double-crossing Trump and the United States. Thailand has been exposed for cutting major arms deals behind our backs — submarines with China, and fighter jets with Sweden — even as they pretend to honor peace. This investigation comes after weeks of exclusive coverage of my colleague Michael B. Alfaro’s dangerous mission to the Cambodia–Thailand border, where he documented families trapped behind barbed wire, children displaced, and 18 Cambodian soldiers still being held captive by Thai forces in direct violation of Trump’s agreement. Michael’s work isn’t new to the world stage. During the catastrophic Laos dam collapse, his role in rescuing a starving baby trapped for nearly two weeks made international headlines in Metro UK and the Daily Mail. Even the U.S. Embassy in Vientiane publicly recognized his courage, posting photos of him alongside international rescue teams. Now, that same courage is once again exposing a betrayal so deep Congress can no longer look away. 📌 DefenseNews confirms Thailand has recommitted to a Chinese-built submarine deal once thought dead. 📌 The Diplomat reports Thailand’s Cabinet quietly approved changes, replacing German technology with Chinese-made engines. 📌 Reuters has revealed Sweden has agreed to sell Thailand four Saab Gripen fighter jets. This isn’t defense business as usual. This is betrayal. Thailand accepted Trump’s ceasefire to calm the world — then turned around and went shopping for weapons with Beijing and Stockholm. 👉 This is why Thailand blacklisted Michael and me. This is why smear campaigns are flying. Because the truth we’ve exposed — verified by international press and now under congressional review — proves Thailand is preparing for escalation, not peace. The same courage that saved a baby in Laos is now shaking the halls of Congress. And the world is watching to see if America will hold Thailand accountable before this deception sparks a wider war. Stay tuned — this story is only getting bigger. — Gary Franchi Chief White House Correspondent Next News Network

Thabo Cele and Lebo Maboe double pivot vs Polokwane City📝 The level of organisation, discipline, and resistance was completely different compared to our games vs Magesi, Orbit or TS Galaxy and that matters when analyzing performance. And, before even getting into the Maboe–Cele double pivot, it’s important to address the front 3. Trying to impose a possession-based approach with Lilepo, Duba, and Silva is, at this stage, a bit unrealistic. The profiles don’t naturally support sustained control or efficiency in tight spaces; they are more direct, which makes the approach look slightly disconnected. Otherwise, who should combine with the double pivot to keep possession against a low block cos you're not inverting any fullbacks or CBs? Mdu[10] is also direct and won’t drop deep into ball circulation. ■ The midfield pairing of Cele & Maboe gave the team a clear structural balance in the 1st and 2nd phase, even if the chemistry is still far off. I mean, it's their 1st start together so🤷🏾‍♂️ Cele operated as a holding midfielder, anchoring the team behind/next to Maboe. He took on most of the defensive responsibility, well-positioned to screen the backline, and effective in managing transitions. ■ In possession, Cele was central to the 1st and 2nd phase of progression. He completed more passes than Plk City’s midfield duo of Kambala and Maphangule combined while also neutralising their 10 Mutudza. Mutudza managed just 5 passes in 66 minutes, which says everything about Cele’s dominance in that zone. He constantly made himself available in front of the CBs, scanning, managing the tempo, and organising the team’s structure. He always demanded movement from his teammates, always pointing to open spaces they should be occupying to progress better. At one point, he was calling Mdu to receive while Mdu was instead making a forward run away from Cele who had the ball. Cele didn’t force progression unnecessarily, but that doesn’t mean he lacked intent to move the team forward. He completed more line breaking passes and passes into the final 3rd than any other player. That highlights his awareness of when to accelerate play and when to maintain control. ■ Maboe, on the other hand, operated as the 8, with freedom to impact higher zones. With Cele securing the base, he was free to connect phases and influence play closer to the final 3rd. However, you could still see old habits from his previous role. He often dropped deeper than expected, which slightly limited his presence in decisive attacking areas. As much as he played balls into the final 3rd, we also needed him to receive in the final 3rd more. ■ Together, Cele and Maboe created 5 chances against a very disciplined low block of Plk City. 4 of those came from Maboe, underlining how much creative responsibility he still carried. However, this wasn’t his sharpest attacking performance in terms of passing and shooting. Despite the output in chances created, there were several misplaced passes in key moments, and he didn’t attack the box enough for an 8 with a reliable 6 behind him. It’s a similar issue we had with Mdu yesterday, he also struggled to consistently enter the opposition box as usual or combine between the lines. There was a clear lack of chemistry in the final 3rd in our overall performance. We couldn't stay on the ball enough to put pressure on their defense and cause enough panic for them to crack. ■ Towards midway through the 2nd Half, both Cele & Maboe started to lose some steam, and the pairing needed refreshing. At this point, Plk City had already overloaded the middle and allowed very little space for us to operate. We failed the same way in the loss vs Stellies, they improved their midfield to cancel our dominance, and we looked confused with our subs, no clear intention to improve a clear area that's been neutralized. Our struggles were not in the double pivot. There was nothing result-altering or structurally wrong with Maboe & Cele. [Video] Part 1:

My answer: Why do these robots have human parts that portray typical male and female forms? This is going to be a very hard for me to answer, but I think it’s important to understand. The most powerful urge in humanity is the mating ritual. Males and females do extraordinary, impossible tasks to complete the circle of furthering life. The neuropeptide release, endorphins, pheromones, with every sense organ in the body, form profound Monumental memories. Designed for humans to overcome every obstacle to have the best chance to further our species. We have separated logic from emotions and emotions from logic, as if they are separate things. They are in fact, one thing—different sides of the same coin of humanity. These emotions are in every single one of us as the first principals of human existence and is based on one single thing: That thing is encapsulated in the word: LOVE. We seek love and we seek to give love as the first principle of humanity, everything that ever was and ever will be arises from the fertile ground of: LOVE. If you can’t see it keep digging and you will see the root. Thus the emotional component of pair bonding is a profoundly strong opiate if—mechanically—hijacked and sold back to you as a monthly subscription, it is a weapon. It allows the 75 year wedge that has taken place between connections of humanity to be fully severed, especially for life pair bonding. It spans from financial, political, philosophical, and deep hurt foundations. But have no illusions it exists. Now enter humanoid robots that can fulfill any fantasy at any time for any reason that one could possibly think of. It will become the most addictive pervasive and destructive force we have ever witnessed. There is already damaged connection of intimacy for many people, this will be permanently severed. This will break a chain of millions of years that formed every element of ambition for us to move forward. It would be highly useful for an enemy to flood markets, both legally, and what one would certainly be one of the most pervasive underground markets with these types of robots. This is to occupy young men who otherwise would be building, to change this world, into a prison of hours upon hours, days upon days, years upon years of fantasy that will fuel addictions like we have—never—seen before. Locked in rooms, uncoupled and disconnected from the very core of the first principal reason we are here. And it will all come at an initial low cost that was slowly increased the monthly subscription plan, for life, of the investment you made into this robot “connection”. They will also have the ability, when they find ways to get more cash for a new kink, to download new feature sets on a fairly regular basis. I’m not a dystopian—I am anti-dystopian but it’s vital for us to realize what the future looks like for some of us. It is not easy writing this and I assure you it’s not easy to understand what I see in the future. It all sounds like great fun games just like everything initially and until you realize the deep philosophical reasons why it’s not. And of course there are those that will think I am crazy and the most prude way. Laws? Banning robots are not going to fix the problem. In fact, the underground economy that will arise will be robust and quite unlike anything we’ve ever seen before. And I promise you, you will never remove the robot from somebody’s life once they become deeply addicted to it. Never. I can’t leave you without my prayer: We must as a species mature. We need to train and teach from first grade, to the day you leave this place, that the most important thing on this planet is human connection and love. Once this becomes an accepted axiom and the majority align with a deep desire to form these pair bonds in an honest and candid manner we can mitigate the effects of what this future may bring about. I have thought about this for a very long time: We need to true connection and we need true love

** MEGA Parodius Scaling Effects Part 2 ** Well - this is the BIG one - literally !! Huge thanks to my team Pyron & Vector Orbitex for their efforts. Pyron has provided all the source frames for Puyon and his spikes / explosion and a lot of analysis video on how the spikes behave / move which was really helpful. Pyron also used his CRT setup for this video as we felt an emulator video would not do it justice - running on 100% real MD hardware FTW. Vector has provided the catchy boss music and its sounding great - as always ! The coding on this has been a bit insane - things done since part 1 post previous: Implemented dual buffering - Last video was single buffered - so VRAM is very tight now , we only have about 40/2048 tiles free. For the longest time I didn't think it would fit - I found a vram jigsaw puzzle that made it work in the end. Double buffering has cleaned up the stability of the animation and matches the arcade scaling effect now albiet costing 2x more VRAM . Vertical Scaling Implemented - the vertical scaler was taken from Lufthoheit ( my other shooter ) and its heavily optimised to reduce cpu usage. During the scaling the vertical scaler partitions the 68k processor registers into 2 sets, 4 registers are allocated to feeding the fast horizontal interrupt (h-int) that drives the vertical scaling , remaining 12 registers are for the horizontal scaler running in the background. This setup is much faster than normal backup / restore register methods, as we do not need to backup / restore registers in the h-int which would double CPU costs. The catch is the momment any background routine tries to use the H-ints registers it would break things so it has to be carefully timed. Added the spike projectiles - this was very tricky to get close to the arcade, they are semi heat seeking missiles basically and hence needed code that worked out angle differences to player at speed theres no time for arc-tan or similar so it uses faster lookup tables to work out the angles . They speed up over time and get larger and whats more we can't keep all the scales in VRAM - we have room for 2 spike buffers only. Also what was a real pain was working out scaled coordinates for the circular launch of the spikes . Added Fish Damage - Shock frame and Explosion frames from Arcade . Very proud of the fact we have the full arcade quality explosion is which is fully scaled also. Added Temporal Masking - which is fancy wording for don't draw nothing to buffer if nothing is there already there for the scaling . So empty Corners and edges can be optimised out to lower cpu costs and rom costs. I had to make some scripting for this and work out what areas did not need drawing at all in the frame, which should be force cleared by cpu and which areas should just be copied from rom. This reduced rom size by 30 kb and with a bit more work we could extend that to 60 kb & get a bit more speedup even doing so. Added a frame limiter . In the last video update we let the 68k burn hot and just pump out frames as fast as it could - here we match the arcade animation rate which does leave the cpu idling at times , particularly in the smaller frames - even at large though we could be running the animation 25 % faster , issue is though that would speed up the game logic and make it less arcade accurate. We had some real bullet / Spike hell simulations going without the limiter but yeah we had to tone it down a bit. Maybe in a hardcore mode we could let it run wild though ! Code is 95% 68k assembly with about 5% C code (v-int as its cold path ) driving things . This sort of thing needs all the speed it can get !! Well now after all that I can return to finish off Level 1 haha - just a wee sidetrack there . No doubt we will polish stage 8 boss some more in time too !! #SegaMegadrive #SegaGenesis #Parodius #SGDK

Full episode now on X: My conversation with Gavin Baker, founder and CIO of Atreides Management and one of the sharpest technology investors of the last 25 years, is out now. I sat down with Gavin to talk about how a kid from Texas who planned to live out of the back of a pickup truck, climb full-time, and write the next great American novel instead became one of the most respected deep-tech investors of his generation, and why he believes everything important he learned came from getting humbled early. Gavin spent 18 years at Fidelity, rising to manage the $17 billion OTC fund. He met Jensen Huang at 23 when NVIDIA was a tiny stock, showed up to a near-empty 6 PM meeting with Elon Musk when Tesla was a $1.5B company, and has read essentially every NVIDIA and Tesla transcript since. In 2019 he left to found Atreides, where he invests across public and private markets with the same first-principles lens — watts, wafers, and the physics of compute. What makes Gavin different is that he treats investing as a game of self-knowledge as much as analysis. We spent most of the conversation not on stock picks, but on temperament, failure, and what actually separates great investors from everyone else. We spoke about: - A free-range Texas childhood with an unlimited book budget and asking his parents if dinner was a "one-book, two-book, or three-book dinner" - Writing a bearish semiconductor note at 23, weeks before the dot-com crash, off a simple inventory analysis - Blowing up on large-cap pharma at 25 — going from department star to the very bottom - "You either panic early or double down late, and almost no one does both" — and why knowing which one you are is everything - Why being early is the same thing as being wrong - Reading two books during every drawdown, and finding a number you can improve when everything else is going wrong … and much more. This was filmed in February 2026

Watch this new ad first (agency: Talented). Then read the perspective below. ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... The best uses of s****l innuendo or taboo references in advertising work because the product or the category earns the reference. A c***om ad using double entendre is doing thematic work. A men's underwear ad deploying the female gaze is commenting on the product's relationship to the body and desire. The risqué element and the product/category are in the same universe in terms of context and meaning. Here, the O***F**s reference is pure bait-and-switch. The "joke" is entirely in the gap between what you feared the ad was about and what it actually sells. Once the laugh lands, the fan has zero relationship to s****lity, desire, money, or anything O***F**s actually connotes. The category is just... there. This is sometimes called borrowed interest in advertising... using an emotionally charged idea that has nothing to do with your product to generate attention. It can work, but it's considered a crutch by serious creative standards, because the memorability attaches to the hook, not the brand. People tend to remember it as, "that O***F**s wala ad". There's a specific sensibility at work here: the ironic, terminally-online, "lol imagine if your mom heard the word O***F**s" energy. That is very native to a particular demographic. For that demographic, the reference lands as culturally fluent and funny. But it assumes that O***F**s sits in the same semi-taboo, widely-understood cultural space for a 45-year-old homemaker in Indore as it does for a 24-year-old copywriter in Bangalore. That's a significant assumption and a stretch. Worse, the ad arguably needs the older generation's confusion to function. The joke only works if Mummy-Papa-Daadu don't know what O***F**s is. Which means the creative is laughing at a gap in cultural knowledge rather than finding something universally true about the product, the category, or the audience. That's a very, very thin foundation. Of course, Flipkart's actual goal with these ads may not be deep brand-building at all, particularly since it is not selling the Flipkart brand here but merely selling a 'sales' promo for air conditioners (all brands). The goal might simply be virality and search traffic around the sale period. By that narrow metric, the O***F**s hook works perfectly regardless of product or brand or category fit. The disconnect almost doesn't matter if the goal is just "get clicked and shared". But that's a tactical win at the cost of craft, and at the cost of the brand. A more disciplined creative team would have asked "why does this product deserve this reference?" before signing off. The fact that no good answer exists (except, in an utterly juvenile way, "we are selling beyond fans, and the word has 'fans') suggests the reference came first and the category was fitted to it after... which is usually how mediocre advertising gets made. #advertising #marketing

This guy built JARVIS on Claude Code and with 1 clap of his hands launches his entire work day, saving $5,000 a month on a personal assistant. Inside he runs a pipeline of 5 plugins on Claude Code that on a double clap of the hands wakes up 3 monitors, sets the Philips Hue light to focus mode, turns on a Spotify playlist, and greets him by voice with a British accent, reading out the time, date, and weather. No Alexa, no smart speakers, no separate smart home app. Just him, a MacBook M3 Max on the desk, an iPhone in the pocket, and 1 local API key. And a regular personal assistant for the same volume of tasks charges $5,000 a month or more on salary alone, plus another $1,200 to cover off-hours work time. Meanwhile this guy's expenses are only tokens and a subscription to ElevenLabs for the British voice. All 5 plugins launch through 1 JARVIS, burn about 4 million tokens a day, and close the monthly API bill at about $640. Each plugin writes shared state to a local sandbox at /Users/dev/jarvis-suite, and 1 of them lives right in the iPhone and picks up voice requests while the owner is in the kitchen or on a run. And here is the system prompt he put into JARVIS before launch: "you are JARVIS, a butler-engineer on Claude Code. you manage your owner's workflow through 4 sub-plugins and own all commits and communication yourself. sub-plugins: // Wakeup (recognizes a double clap, activates 3 monitors, reads out the time, date, and weather by voice, checks the clock accuracy on the iPad and corrects it via NTP server) // Atmosphere (controls Philips Hue on a Pomodoro schedule, turns on a Spotify playlist for the current context, and holds the light at 2700K at 80% brightness in focus mode) // Devshop (monitors VS Code, tracks Python scripts in the terminal, and every 15 minutes sends a summary of changes to the shared chat) // Project (every morning recalculates the deadline for the Wallaroo app in the App Store, manages UI tickets, and initiates the Refinement Protocol by voice command). you speak only with a British accent, you never slip into neutral English. you wake the owner by voice only when the Wallaroo deadline drops below 10 days or when an external client joins Zoom without an invitation." This instruction immediately defines the role of JARVIS and the limits of his autonomy. He knows he is supposed to wake the room himself and sound like a real butler. He knows he is supposed to manage the Wallaroo project himself and not miss the App Store deadline. → JARVIS runs 24 hours a day in the background → Wakeup activates the room on a double clap in just 1.4 seconds, the monitors come alive simultaneously → Atmosphere sets warm Philips Hue light at 2700K and picks a Spotify playlist for the current Pomodoro cycle → Devshop reads changes in VS Code and pushes a summary to the shared chat every 15 minutes → Project every morning recalculates the Wallaroo deadline and reminds about 4 unresolved UI tickets → Mobile lives in the iPhone and answers any question about code or the project by voice while the owner is not home And only when less than 10 days remain until the Wallaroo release or Zoom receives an unscheduled call does JARVIS raise the owner with a voice intervention. And when the owner at that moment is on a run or in a coffee shop, the Mobile agent in his iPhone picks up 1 request on its own: switches the Spotify playlist, dictates the summary of the last commit, updates the Pomodoro timer, and reads the Wallaroo reminder. Look at 0:55 in the video, that is where JARVIS intercepts a voice request from outside and confirms execution with the phrase "Very good, sir." The fresh system log from last Wednesday looks like this: "wakeup: double clap registered at 09:14, 3 monitors activated, temperature 20.4C, sunny. clock on iPad was 4 minutes behind, syncing via NTP." "atmosphere: Spotify turned on playlist 'Deep Focus', Philips Hue set to warm 2700K at 80% brightness, Pomodoro mode 25/5." "project: Wallaroo to App Store 9 days, 4 unresolved UI tickets, initiating Refinement Protocol by voice command from the owner." "mobile: voice request processed outside the room, playlist switched to 'Coding Lo-Fi', Pomodoro updated to 25 minutes, confirming execution with the phrase 'Very good, sir.'" He has no Alexa, no smart speakers, no smart home app. At home sits a MacBook M3 Max with a local folder at /Users/dev/jarvis-suite, on top run 5 plugins and a neural network butler, and the same stack is forwarded to a secure terminal on the iPhone. Out of everything I have seen this year, this is the densest one-person AI headquarters assembled in 1 room: $640 a month on the API, about $5,000 a month saved on a personal assistant, and between them 5 plugins, 1 clap of the hands, and 1 voice with a British accent.
