English is an easy language in nearly every way except pronunciation and spelling.

I doubt that people say two /s/ sounds in a word like misspeak. If it was spelled mispeak, we'd pronounce it exactly the same. The fact that he had to work to make it sound otherwise supports my contention. But maybe a graph of a recording of the word would show otherwise.

If you only had one 's' it would rhyme with:

Honestly sounds like he’s pronouncing it with a California accent

Geminates arent very noticeable in English. In Italian, however…
