Dowel Pin Latch Idea #woodworking

I’ve been thinking about a mechanism using the repelling force of magnets for a while, and I thought it could be useful for something like a latch. Simply using magnetic repulsion would allow the dowel to fall out, so this time I routed a small slot from the side and added a short piece of nail as a stopper. Since this was just a test to see whether the idea could be practical, I used a wooden dowel. But with a thinner metal rod, I think it could become much more practical. It could also be used not only for latches, but for things like pivot hinges on doors. If you can think of any other uses for this mechanism, let me know!
